Question

I'm interested in advice, tips, tricks from anyone who's tried this time reporting package, particularly using it productively quickly.

Thumbs down

I had an unsatisfactory experience with TR 2000. I tried it because I really like ActionNames by Iambic. But I had continuing problems with getting TR to work reliably, particularly with installation and getting a reliable synch between the handheld program and the PC program. Support was slow to respond, which is a real killer for a timekeeping app. For 3 months I spent more time on TR than all my other apps put together, trying to get it to work, and after this time I ended up deleting it because of the persistent problems. This was a very expensive lesson.

Rod, you said you:

While I can readily sympathize with your frustration over ill-designed software and poor support, I've only just begun using the software and have reached no definite conclusions yet.
Perhaps you can be more specific. I'm not sure I understand what you meant. Did you find that the installation routine on the PC kept coming up every time you rebooted your PC? (That's what's been happening to me.)
What was the difficulty in getting synch to perform? Did it not work at all? I appear to be able to do that OK. Or was the difficulty that the synch contained inconsistencies or corrupted the data?

One of the concerns I have is, after downloading my data fields from Quickbooks Pro's timekeeping software, that it's not clear whether new fields that I've entered in my handheld will populate "upward" to, initially the PC version of Timekeeper, and then into Quickbooks. Or must they all be entered into QB first?
It's also not clear how the more complex data model in Timekeeper maps to Quickbooks' data model?
Any info, ideas to share?
