Question

I have a lot of weekly appointments, and was thrilled at how easy it was to enter them into my BVD and have them all carry over onto future weeks. My problem is that I want to make a brief notation on the appointment, but not have that notation carry over to the other weeks. For example on a 2:00 Mon appt, I want to be able to write "done" or "cancelled", but just for that appointment.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can do that, but still keep the appointments repeating?

Thanks!

Cool

Three options work:
The El Cheapo (free)Use Datebook +: click on the appointment, click Menu, Record, and you can Attach a note (with the usual dialog about how to handle the other repeated appointments).

Linker (12.95)http://www.digitalglyph.com/
which allows you to link an entry to to some other record (memo, note, contact, etc.). You'd have to create a seperate memo, or somesuch for this appointment.

Datebk3 ($20) http://www.gorilla-haven.org/pimlico/index.htm which is what Datebook + is based on, however this has a whole lot of extra features. I wish HS had upped the price a few bucks and included the full version in ROM. You can attatch a note as with Datebook+, OR choose Make Exception, which detaches this appointment from the rest of the repeated appointments, allowing you to change anything with this one and not affect the others. This product really expands the features availble and I strongly encourage you to give it a try. I really like this product, and it deserves support!

Good Luck!

Talking

Thanks for the information. I am going to definitely look into that program. The appointment feature is the one I use most, but am also struggling with a bit as I transition from a paper planner to the visor.

If I were to get Datebk3, would I have to reenter all my data into that program? Or would it read what is already in the Datebk+?

Thanks again, I am on my way to check out Datebk3!

As you may have discovered by now, it does read your existing Datebk+ database.

After listening to people rave about the icon feature of 3, and reading Buffasaur's comment above, I broke down and dl'd the update.

Well, I'm impressed. And hooked. The icons make the use of categories practical, and they make that "show bars for appointments in the week view" view *very* useful and informative.

Yes, it would have been nice to have the fullblown Datebk3 in rom. But it isn't, so I guess I'll cough up 20 bucks and help out the gorillas.

Warning: if you are a "I won't use it unless it is freeware" kinda person, don't try Datebk3, and consider reconsidering.

I can see where it would be real hard to drop back to + after the trial period.
