-- Handspring Modem Battery Life (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=5302)
Does anyone know how the modem manages it's power? Will it drain power when inserted in the springboard slot and the power is off on the Visor? Also, even if the Visor is on, will it draw power if the modem is NOT connected? I'm just wondering about this because I've been taking that modem in and out all day (just got it). I would like to leave it in there without worrying that it will just loose all battery power.. Also, I think it's incompatible with SilverScreen.

i don't think the modem would draw power from the visor considering it's got it's own 2AAA batteries. (it would be odd if it had it's own batteries AND drew power from the visor).
I have a registered version of Silverscreen 1.3 on my visor and it works without a problem with my modem. I guess you can rule Silverscreen out as causing a problem...hope that helps.
The reason why I think it's incompatible is because if silverscreen is on, and I insert the visor, for some strange reason, I get that flashing low battery for the modem thing flashing on the screen even though I put in fresh batteries. However, when I go to the settings and choose exit silverscreen, and THEN insert the modem, everything is okay. That's the only reason why I think it's silverscreen. It also MIGHT be launcherIII.. I'll take a look.. But all in all, I really like the modem. Have you registered MultiMail Pro as well? I'm not sure if I should do just the program or the program with the conduit. The demo conduit works fine and seems to have no time limit... It works with Outlook express and that's all I need.. I don't need the other 5 email clients.

That's strange. I don't see that battery symbol..The modem is working fine with Silverscreen. are you using version 1.3?
I'm thinking about getting MultiMailpro but haven't come around to doing it. I'm using Proximail and it's working alright for now and it was free. It uses the mail program your visor comes with which means it'll sync with anything the Visor syncs with. the only problem, you can't attach files and it puts everything in the one inbox. i have 3 different email accounts (personal, work, and one i use on boards like this..or when buying stuff so that all the junk mail goes there).
let me know what you think of multimail after you've tried it for awhile. i think for the time being Proximail serves my purposes. (until i get the Eyemodule and want to email photo attachments home from wherever i'm travelling!)
