Battery draining problem
I have the known problem (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Visor/messages/8662) , that my visor solo used to last over a month with new batteries and now not more then a few days. Apparently cleaning the main board with 90% alcohol might help a little bit, but some people on the net measured the in rush current while the unit is turned off by using a 3V external power supply and report up to 22mA going in.
After cleaning it was still 9-11 mA, which still is not close to the original ~ 1-2 mA.
This points to an aging capacitor in my opinion. But so far no one exactly found out.
I like my visor and bought a Deluxe on Ebay and that "newly looking" one has the same problem...
To the wise people, yes one could use NiMH batteries and charge them more often. But if you forget to do that, everything is gone after a few days too!
Can anyone find out about this capacitor theory ?
Thanks
A friend had a similar problem, and we found that by disconnecting one terminal of a small capacitor on the button board, the Visor's battery would last much longer. However, this is apparently the capacitor that provides power during battery changes, so going without it wasn't much of an option. She ended up buying a Prism instead, so we never tried to find a replacement part.
