-- How to move frm Palm to Visor with iMac (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2574)
I broke my Palm IIIe and decided to give the Visor Deluxe a try. I hotsynced with my iMac under OS 9 using the Palm serial cradle and a Kensington serial adapter with the Palm Desktop before I broke the IIIe.
Can I continue to use the Palm desktop with the Visor? Or can I import my old data into the Visor desktop?
Any comments, suggestions or experiences welcome!!! Thanx.
Visor uses Palm Desktop, and it will use your existing data files. There is no need to import anything.
You will need to reinstall Palm Desktop from the Visor CD, since the version of HotSync Manager is optimized for the Visor, and syncs with both USB and Serial. The reinstall should not affect your data at all. (But as a precaution back it up anyway.)
I use Windoze 9x but my migration from Palm to Visor was totally no problemo. Also new Visors are known for needing a soft reset before they will sync for the first time, so try that if you get a can't connect to the desktop error.
