-- Serial Cradle (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=445)
Believe it or not, I phone ordered a Visor with the optional serial cradle on 10/13, and when I called today to find out the status of my highly anticipated package, I was told that it shipped out on 10/19!!! The CSR told me I was one of the lucky ones...however, the serial cradle is backordered!!! Does anyone know when they are suppose to get them in? Without the serial cradle I can't sync, I don't have a usb connection nor am I willing to upgrade to Win '98. So...Is anyone willing to sell me a visor serial cradle at a reasonable price? I can also be reached via work e-mail at: [email protected]
If your desperate enough you might be able to make yourself a serial cable. (Lots of people did this when the Palm first came out and there was a cradle/cable shortage.)

ChemMan:
I have a serial cradle for sale. You can either reply via this forum or send an e-mail to me at [email protected] with your offer.
Thanks for the info emeyer...hopefully someone will be nice enough in here to sell me one for about $35.00. If not, I guess I have no other choice than to play "McGyver" until the backordered cradles are in stock again.
ChemMan:
Macguyver? You mean you'll make some C-4 or Semtex explosive out of some basic household cleaners then blow up your Visor and their corporate headquarters and bring Donna and Jeff to justice?
Oh, wait, that's the A-Team. Sorry ;-)
Thanks for the offer mg, I'm taking you up on it! Hot Carl...I don't know if I'd blow up the "Visor" with any kind of plastique explosives, I'd probably wnat to sit there and watch it suffer. I'd first throw it against the wall a couple of times then take what's left of it and put it in some HCl or H2SO4 and watch the parts melt into oblivion. Then, I'd send the remaining parts back to Handspring C/O of Hawkins and Dubinsky and ask them for a refund because they made all of us suffer by not anticipating the demands of the consumer!

Chem Man, I'm sorry, but if you work were I think you work, it should be very easy for you to make a serial cable...
your friend from an HTS department, BTW I have a very hot lead for your sales departement if only they want to control my TopCount...hahahahaha

Ahhhh...Molecularbond...High Throughput Screening are you? You need to automate that process along with your top counting! What kind of LSC are you using? I work for Beckman Coulter, Sagian Operations. We are responsible for all the robotic and HTS/Molecular biology assays and applications. Where do you work? I could have someone there make me a serial cable but I know I would get a lot of "smack" from the engineers, Software people and other Scientists about returning my Palm IIIe, they are die hard Palm people! I'd rather spend the money for the dedicated serial cable from Handspring then deal with a make-shift serial cable. BTW, what is your marketing idea?
Hey Chemman, let's just say that where I work, we don't really like the MicroBeta and we also manufacture your Multimek...I hear there's a new Biomek coming out, is that true. BTW can you give me the number extension of a Jan Pursey, apparently you are supposed to have drivers to control the Topcount, for these customers who can't stand Wallac.
[email protected]
Molecularbond- yes there is a new Biomek coming out...maybe February. Can't give you any more details other than it's really cool and I don't think there is anything out on the market like it...you'll just have to wait and see. Jan Pursley is in SanDiego until November 1st, his extension is 4217. We don't mention words like "Wallac" "Perkin Elmer" or Zymark around here. BTW, have you received your Visor yet? What are your first impressions of it?
But you sell the Trilux on the CORE system ? Thanks for the info for Jan. Unfortunately I am a lonely man without a Visor, I was probably in the first 100 orders but I think there is some shipping problems for my Blue Visor, it also has to cross to Canada...You don't have USB support at Coulter ? (sorry, I know Sagian guys don't like the word hahahahah).
Molecularbond...got my visor today via ground UPS, didn't take that long to get to Indianpolis considering I ordered by phone on 10/13/99. Oh well, at least it's here. Thank goodness mg (THANKS AGAIN MG!) is selling me his serial cradle. Yes, we at Beckman Coulter (starting to phase out the "Sagian" name) support a USB connection but not too many people use it. Yes, the Victor Trilux is sold on our core system, but hey, it's a decent reader although I prefer the Molecular Device VMax plate reader, much faster and not as bulky. Let me know when you get your visor, I got the std graphite, it's pretty sweet. Cheers!!! Long live the BIOMEK!!!

dudes... take it off line, there are children around
