I just received my ice Visor Deluxe yesterday after a relatively quick 4 weeks. But I sank into a depression after finding my visor won't sync at all. I have a AMD K6 350 running Win98 (not SE) with a relatively new Asus motherboard. I've tried everything from reinstalling the software and modify all possible setting to soft rebooting the Visor.

I even ordered the Win98SE update cd that will not arrive for 3 weeks. I have also ordered a serial cradle from Handspring just in case there's a USB problem, which is very likely.

Does anyone have any ideas?

thanks for any help or suggestions you can give...

Ryan

Wink

Have you checked your BIOS to make sure USB support is turned on?

Go into the control panel then select the system icon. Go to the driver tab and see what the status of it in (double click on the USB devices. There is a check box that says something about disabling...make sure that is NOT checked. Make sure that it says that the device is operating correctly.

Hope this helps

Assuming that when you check Control Panel/System/Device Manager you see your USB ports, the number one fix for hot sync problems is a soft reset. There have been numerous threads that detail the virtues of this simple solution.

By the way, I have the same setup - AMD K6 350 with Win 98 and I had to enable my USB ports the first time they were used.

OK, I looked into the BIOS settings and found there were no options for USB. It turns out that the motherboard was shipped with an older version of the BIOS which does not have USB enabled. I downloaded an updated bios and flashed the bios. Everything works fine now!!

Has anyone else had problems with their BIOS?

Thanks for the help!

I don't think I have a BIOS problem... My USB scanner works just fine. My Visor, however, hasn't been able to sync yet either. I just received it today, have installed and re-installed the software several times, performed a couple of soft resets, and still no luck.

Thumbs down

I'm having problems also. Here's what I've done so far, and it hasn't helped a bit:

- USB enabled in BIOS

- Plug n Play enabled in BIOS

- Confirmed USB driver stats in System Properties, and both are operating correctly

- Have Local USB checked of in HotSynch Manager (system tray)

- Have done several soft resets on my Visor

And I continue to get the following error messages:

HotSync Error:
An application failed to respond to a
HotSync notification. Please check the Palm Desktop for details. (8009)

HotSync Manager (PopUp Script)
An application on the PC failed to respond to a confirmation query. This application may need to be restarted.

Does this sound familiar to anyone else? I'll forward this message along to HS Tech Support, but I'm not expecting a response anytime soon... hmmm, where is that bad attitude coming from???
