This review says: the display renders it not buying at ANY price

Did they get a lemon? Or is their "viewing a monitor thru a screen door" experience typical? Reviews like this make me hold no tighter to my wallet and pray, "Come on, next generation of color PDAs! Learn from the 1.0 release!"

Steve - Hang on to your wallet... for now, at least.

I have a VDx, and I'm quite happy. But I'm going to explore the iPaq and other options before ditching the Visor for its colorized updated cousin.

Some VDx customers feel a little abandoned by Handspring, at the moment, in regards to springboard software updates and wireless access modules.

If you have something, just hang on to it. If not, don't jump just yet. I've already seen software patches for VPR, so the dust hasn't settled, yet.

Re: Returning my Prism tomorrow.

"Mediocre color" in this case must mean lower resolution and dot pitch of the screen, because the palette/bit depth of the Prism is equal to or better than any PDA currently produced.

While it's true that the Prism is limited by its small screen and (compared to a PPC) low resolution, it can do an impressive job of displaying 16-bit images within the confines of 160x160. It's also fairly quick with image manipulation and scrolling.

Otherwise, I found this review of the Prism pretty accurate, including the strangely smudgy screen that seems so much harder to keep clean than the one on my old IIIc or Vx.
