Unhappy dim screen

The screen on my Visor Deluxe is suddenly very dim. I adjusted the contrast to the highest and the screen is still almost unreadable. Any suggestions.

Is she cold? How is her battery life?

The first thing I'd do is try a soft reset. Push the reset pin on your stylus into the reset hole without pressing any other buttons. See what that does.

still dim after reset

Thanks dietrichbohn!
The batteries are new and the soft reset does nothing.

hmmm.. seems a bit odd: contrast does nothing, soft reset does nothing...

Are you running an overclock program? They have a tendency to wash the screen out sometimes, esp. afterburner. If you futz with the settings enough, you can get it right.

Are you running any other hacks?

Maybe it has something to do with that wine you spilled on it (no need to double post, BTW, if a thread is posted in the wrong area the Mods will move it).

Do you have a backup module? I would back your data up and do a hard reset--that's the only real way to know if it's hardware or software.

Hold on a second...

Before you try a hard reset, I'd try a warm reset. That really should tell you if it's a software problem. Do a reset while holding the Up scroll button. Hold it down until you see the PalmOS logo.

no luck

I tried the warm reset and no luck. I went ahead and did a hard reset and still and the screen is still dim. It now sometimes comes back, but only briefly and to then completely fade out.

Thanks Jupe and dietrichbohn!

Yep, it's the hardware. Bummer. Is it under *cough* warranty *cough*?
