I've been trying today to sync my VDX for the first time since new years and have been repeatedly getting a no connection error. Tried reseating numerous times and twiggling about with the USB connection, but to no avail.

So I tried a soft reset. The Palm Screen came up, flashed, and came back--repeating infinitely about every 4 seconds. I popped out a battery for a moment. Palm screen came up w/ a flashing square in the upper-left-hand corner--that repeats infinitely unless reset, then returns to the 4 second scenario, unless I take out the battery and flashing square ensues.

[as an aside, this is my second VDX, replacing the first I sent back under warrantly about 3 months ago. One day it froze--a soft reboot resulted in the flashing square with no relief, even after a full battery drain. So I received a new one next day (good support I will add). But why? what happened and again?]

Pressing the power button 3 times got me a hard reset. I didn't want to do it as I haven't backed anything up in a week..but I went with it. After a hard reset it it now syncing properly.

What gives?
