They are all form letters sent out randomly. They probably have a dartboard for the purpose. I have quite a collection of them. I should export them all to a text file and post them here. Then people wouldn't have to email PG, they'd just have to refer to the text file!

Though I must admit, the one about the SmartMedia is a howl!

Ran to check my hotmail for that special PG email. But nooo.

Cool Memplug and Palmgear - the saga continues!

Moved my order to Amazon

Well, I've grown tired of waiting for PalmGear and PI to get their act together. I placed an order with Amazon and cancelled my order with PalmGear.

Amazon at least accepts returns with a smile. I've been calling PalmGear on a weekly basis, and I'm getting tired of hearing their excuses and snotty attitude. Also, Amazon's prices are MUCH BETTER. The module is $49.95 and a Viking 32M SM Card is only $31.99 with Free Shipping! That's much cheaper than PalmGear which was charging $100 for a MemPlug with 32M (and $10 for shipping).

The good news is that the guy who took my cancellation was friendly and seemed apoligetic about "the elusive MemPlug". At least someone over there has a good attitude.

I realize that I'm now at the back of the queue at Amazon, but if I eventually can get a decent CF card that includes all the same software in Flash, I'll cancel Amazon's order also.

Well, FWIW, I guess w/the new plug-&-play CF SB announced today (out June 1), these guys now only have a limited time to jack around their current customers w/out fear of competition.

So today awaiting me on the front porch was a priority package from, yes sir!, palmgear. My memplug has arrived. It is different that the advertised memplug featured on their site. It doesn't have the two nubs sticking out the back (thank you PI! - it wouldn't have fit in my trifold case). It also has a flush (per se) design. The card doesn't seem to lip out, rather the surrounding plastic is molded up around it. Makes for a nicer presentation. I don't know if this cartoon will come turn out, but it resembles this:
__
_| |_ (older)
__
/ \ (newer)

But it's not entirelly flush with the visor. Okay with me. Well, I am thankful for finally receiving the module. And am already loving it. For me, preferrable to compact flash adapter from Innopocket. I'll take the hit in copy speed. Well to the others, stick it out, your time will come.

Arrow How Slow

I keep hearing this thing about the SMC card being slower than CF. How slow are we talking here? Can someone time the two with the same identical databases and post the result? Thanks.

My Adapter is finally on the way and I should get it early next week. i plan to sell it as soon as I receive> i originally wanted it to be cancelled after waitin 5 weeks for it. I am willing to keep it if the speed is decent.

If you care power consumption more, go for Memplug.
SmartMedia solution use far less power than CF solution.
In fact, it use even less power than Handspring 8MB module.

If you care about speed more, go for Memplug-CF.
Our Memplug-CF is much faster memory solution for Visor. And what 's more, you will get full set of application built-in.

If you care both, why not get both of them.
I have both of them on my pocket. and they work nicely.

With our killer application, PiDirect.
The speed will no longer a problem for Memplug.
Pls keep an eye on our webpage next week.

Arrow Another Question

Since you are active on the boards today I have another question. Wont the power drain by the CF Adapter be more evident with the PiDirect solution. I mean we will be running applications directly off the module all the time. Isn't this going to make the battery drain situation worse?

Can you post some pictures for us to see? I couldn't figure out your cartoon. Thanks.

With the PiDirect APP. What would be the point of getting a MemPLug-CF? Doesn't it cancel out the one advantage that CF Adapters over SmartMedia cards?

Memplug-CF are much faster, and it is for CF card.
We care about some visor users are demanding memplug's features for their CF card, eg. viewing Jpeg, and movie.

Memplug is a power saving memory expansion. And PiDirect can minimize its speed impact.

PiTech would like to provide a full set of Memory Solution for all visor users. All Memplug, and Memplug-CF share the same libraries and applications.
3rd parties application are on their way to support Memplug.

Question Hey PIDeveloper...

PIDeveloper,

I have had my Memplug for a few weeks and love it. However, with the case I use (E&B Slipper Prism), the flap (when closed), really pushes up against the 2-3mm lip of the SM card that sticks out. This make me very nervous, in that I worry that if for some reason pressure gets applied to the top of the flap (if it gets bumped or something), the SM card or Memplug it self may get damaged. Is there any way to trade this Memplug in for the new design (where the SM card doesn't stick out), or am I just going to have to buy a new one altogether and try to get as much money as I can out of this one by selling it. It was really frsutrating waiting for 5 weeks to get my Memplug, only to have the new design announced less than two weeks after I received this one.

Any help on this Mater, PIDeveloper?

Cool This is the coolest!

I've had my MemPlug for 12 hours now. The beta of Launcher III rocks!! I've placed all my apps on the card and Launcher III moves them over.

TealMovie's latest beta has MemPlug support.

PiDirect sounds pretty cool. When will it be available?

I'm so excited I can barely sleep!

Mater?! What was I thinking? Leaving out a "t" in "matter" is one thing, but capitalizing it too? Weird. Guess that's what happens when you haven't had your coffee yet this morning...

Hey Mike,

I can't find any info on where to store the Tealmovie files on the SM card. Do they go in a specific directory on the card?

There's a little 2 icon toggle in the upper left corner, it defaults to internal but you can toggle to the MemPlug and walk through the directories.

I'm REALLY waiting for this with TealDoc!!
