Now that the modem is available. I'm still hesitant to get it. It requires connection via phone jack. I'm wondering, will it connect to my cell?

I highly doubt it. Cell phone jacks as far as I know are proprietary. For instance, Innogear's Six-Pack module has a modem designed to connect to cell phones, but the company will initially only have connections for StarTac and MicroTac phone, with other manufacturer's phones like Nokia to follow soon after.
