THanks for a "real" shot. I was told originally in September that the blue VD was darker. Customer Service Reps!
In all honesty, I still don't mind the look as long as it maintains the blue and does'nt cross the aqua to teal color. Thanks.

Those aren't my pics, but from what I've heard the springboard slot is empty space when the unit arrives. People have been using it for storage. The paperclip is a good thing to keep in there due to the fact that you need it to hit the reset button.

Paper Clip

For those of you non-prior-Palmers, most of us original Piloteers (going back to the 1000 and the 5000) generally wedged a paperclip into the battery compartment because the first stylli were grey pieces of plastic instead of (the Visor's) black pieces of plastic.

A cool thing about going to Internet World recently was that Innogear, the mp-3 and pager module people, gave away free "Visor Reset Tools," which were nothing more than black Springboard module covers with small pieces of paper-clip-like metal sticks with a small plastic flag (as a holder) at one end. So until I decide to keep the Visor and get an mp-3 player, I have no need for a new stylus or a paperclip in the battery compartment.

Meantime, I've got a Visor Reset Tool and no f-in Visor. Great.

I took those shots last night with my Minolta Dimage EX - Digital Camera.

I placed the Visor on a black mat and used the camera's internal flash.

Yes, that is a paperclip stuck in the SpringBoard slot. Until I get my backordered modules I've got a storage bin there.

The graffiti label comes with the Visor, I put it on the back for convience.

Actually you don't need a Paperclip or a reset tool. From what I understand the reset hole is larger on the Visor and the tip of the stylus can be used to do the reset.

Looks like the previous reports are wrong ... you can't reset the visor with the stylus. You'll still need a paperclip.

I could be wrong here, but according to the gagdeteer review as well as my recollection (I saw a bunch of Visors at IW), the hole is small enough that it requires a paperclip or something similar.

However, based on the picture of the back of the blue visor, I dunno either way.

If it's a similar implementation of the Palm III design, though, I'd certainly assume that a paper clip or something similar will be required to reset the Visor.

On the issue of the blue being paler than expected, remember the pic was taken with a flash up close. The plastic being translucent probably looks lighter with a flash than normal room light. Just a thought.

The blue visor that my SO received is indeed a light blue, much like the question mark's color in the ? icon next to my message.

As for the reset button being accessible with the stylus.. there must be different points on some of the styluses, because there's no way I can fit the stubby point of my Visor-basic stylus into the reset hole.

BTW, is it me or has the blue visor picture on Handspring's site been updated to be lighter?

think you could fit a pad of stickynotes int he springboard slot? that'd be very convenient; maybe even more so than the six pack

Just checked with a friend -- no way the stylus works in any way (unless you slice and file it into a toothpick size at the non-business end) to reset the Visor.

Also, I got what I _believe_ is my tracking number, and being that I ordered on 9/14, I'm none too happy that mine should be getting to me on Tuesday. Being that I'm in NYC, you should figure on getting yours on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

Tom, I've got a dummy module cover (Innogear was giving these away with a paper-clip-like thing inside called "Visor Reset Tool" things). Make a long story short, you can definitely fit a small post-it note stack inside the dummy module cover, although the whole stack won't fit. You might have to peel off a third of them before the stack will be short enough to fit comfortably into the space.

Good catch Nachtswerg! I sent the photo to Jeff Hawkins yesterday and the graphics people did the color correction already.

And the difference between the blue colors in the "question mark" message icon are indeed the difference between what they advertised and what they delivered.

Man, I was hoping to get a darker blue like the original pic on the HS site. Now I guess I'm going to have to go Grapite, I don't like the cornflower blue. Oh well, as long as I get one eventually.
