-- Syncing apps on Flash Springboard (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=13545)

Is anyone sucessfully syncing Wordsmith, Money, or StockManager while residing on a Springboard? All databases are kept on the Visor, only the apps are on the Flash.
Any thoughts?

Out of the three you mentioned, I only use WordSmith. Yes, it syncs fine from a Flash Module. (I done it with HS's 8mb module and now CA's Thinmodem+.) I keep the program in Flash and the HotSync conduit has no trouble syncing my documents (the ones in internal memory, not Flash) back and forth. If the module is not present when I sync, WordSmith is just skipped.

Will work for gadgets....

Thanks....that's interesting as WS will not sync unless I move the WS app over to the Visor. The Hotsync log shows that the sync never even took place...wierd

The difference in what you two experience may be related to what version of the HotSync Manager you are use. So what version are you two using?

Also: I have no problems synching with programs that reside on my Flash SB. The associated conduit runs just fine. The HotSync appears to complete normally. However when I check the log file, if I have the Flash SB in place, the last few lines are:

quote:
-- Backing up db Palm OS CDK to file C:\Palm\PotterM\Backup\Palm_OS_CDK.PDB
System synchronization failed
Protocol Error: Handheld file not found. (4003)
HotSync operation complete 03/29/01 12:01:56
The file mentioned in the first line above, is actually on the SB. Basically if the springboard is in, the backup conduit will fail. So I also ask, do either of you use Backup-Buddy or some other alternative backup conduit?

Aha...the plot thinkens. Since I was a long time Palm user, I kept the same Hotsync Manager I had been using. I wonder....?????

I believe that Handspring "tweaks" the software so that it will work with the Springboard.
