Megellan Memory.. Onboard or Visor?

Hi All..

I had a Geode for a short time before I sent it back because the known issues and lack of updates, but I am now looking to purchase a Magellan, but before I do, I have a question to those that have one.

When you use maps, are they downloaded to the Visor memory? On board Magellan memory? Or some sort of memory card? If they are downloaded to the Visor memory, approximately how large are the files?

Thanks in advance.

Matt

There is no onnnnboard memory on the GPS Companion. The maps from the supplied CD are broken out by County/State. Each county ranges from 80k to 400k, depending on the detail in that county.

Personally, I have no idea what the county names are for roads I want to travel in different states, so it's difficult to get your entire planned route on your memory. TO make things even more difficult, I have most of my entire region on my MemPlug, but since the file names are cryptic, it's difficult to find the ones you need.

That being said, I still love the GPSC, and it's been very useful to me, especially during a recent trip to Europe.
