Your a cool dad 8itgr8!
I had to pay for my own Visor and my parents only offered to loan me money. They hate technology...i guess they are just afraid of it. I am a happy owner of a Green Visor Deluxe and I can't wait to get the Six pack(already have the rio so i don't need the MP3 player)

I'm 131/2 and I own a BVD. I love it. I have pages of notes written on it (my teachers are even jeolous). There are some cool games that you can download. For any 21st century kid this is a great gift.
I'm 17 and I use my visor deluxe every day. I'm very carefull who i let see it, and its great to whip it out and write anything you need to. When the dictionary module comes out, it will be VERY usefull for students. I play games, and write down all my assignments.
Just make sure you don't let that stylus touch the screen (use writerights). Since I got the stylus from http://www.pdapanache.com/ I haven't been using writerights, and i have no scratches. The visor is great.
My only complaint (other than the stylus) the two little plastic tabs on the springboard cover is breaking. Soon my cover will not stay on. I am using a peice of tape to keep the springboard cover in place to keep it from further wear.

I'm 37 and on my 3rd Palm OS machine, a Blue VD
Hey, all you babies! I'm a 57-year-old grandmother with a really cool BVD! Love it! My 61-year-old husband loves his GVD. It's not an age-related issue!
And yes, I do have some games on it, as well as my calendar, etc.!
I'm 16 and a junior in high school. With my schedual a planner is a necessity, so since I do have a job why not go for the best? Have to say, while I did consider a palm pilot for a while what sold me was the colors! I guess there is always gonna be that kid in me
I'm 15 and got a visor deluxe at macworld a couple weeks back. It's much better then my recently deceased PP Personal. It's a great tool for students; i highly recomend Four.Zero, it keeps track of all your school stuff. There is a downside, I play games too much in class and has it taken away from my in Bio because a friend playing space invaders. I think it really depends on the person, but for someone that is very disorganized and never rights down assignments it's really a great tool, but im sure for many it would just be a video game machine and not to mention a way to view illicate photos...4 but grey scale baby!
