Question

I have a Visor Deluxe and have been using it almost a year now. I installed v3.1 of the software from HS's site since I haven't updated my software and am using the Palm Desktop. However, now the shaded areas in my datebook indicating appointments have a crazy pattern in the background which is obscuring the text. If anyone thinks he can help, I can email a screenshot of what it looks like. Any help will be appreciated.

Question weird pattern on screen

I also have encountered this problem. It's particularly evident in the month view in DateBk where the vertical grid lines appear to extend into the shaded areas above the calendar (it's a "tone-on-tone" effect). It's less apparent in other views, but there nonetheless.

I contacted Handspring tech support yesterday and will let you know what they have to say.

Question

Bill, thanks for the reply.
Curiously, this problem now comes and goes. Go figure. However, I just had to reformat my HD due to a video card problem and haven't yet reinstalled the palm desktop. Gonna do that now to see if the problem is still there. Chances are it won't be now that I have a clean HD to work with.
I'll still be interested in HS's response to you...

Hope that works for you. Bob.

HS was good about getting right back to me, however with what seemed to be a canned reply: "to soft reset your VDX do...". After soft resetting, the ghosting of lines disappeared, however when I turned the VDX off and back on! the lines had returned. I've subsequently responded back to HS with this info.

Given that some of the postings regarding similar problems mentioned AvantGo (which I have loaded) I toyed with that and discovered that if after turning on the VDX and tapping on Avantgo, I then returned to DateBk the ghost lines were gone! I then deleted Avantgo thinking I was on to something only to have the ghosting reappear!?

I'll let you know if HS comes up with any other suggestions.

Regards, Bill

My third round of e-mail with Tech support regarding the ghosting of vertical lines (particulatly evident in monthly view in DateBk4)ended in HS telling me to call to get a replacement VDx. They'll FedEx me a replacement and I mail back the old one. I believe HS provides refurbished models, however they have to pass all the same tests as the new ones. Given that my VDx is nearly one year old, this isn't a bad outcome.

Bill

Smile

Robear, if your probem is the same as mine (streaking or ghosting in the background, ie; lines run from the vertical grid in DateBk month-view through shaded areas) try NoStreak Hack. It's freeware from PalmGear and solved my screen problem. Hope this helps.
