Mystery Handspring Device on the Horizon
Just found this on PIC - they don't mention what it is though. I pray it's my Visor XL - Ebook Reader, but I doubt it...

I have some thoughts on this... it'll be in the article I post later tonight about the entire confrence call....

High-res PalmOS 5.0 with built in SD??? Please? And throw in a metal case with a half inch thickness as well.... Maybe I should hold off on that T615.
I figure that saying it's not a Visor will rule out any springboard slot.

Too little, too late?
As much as I loved my Prism, I must say that the Clie may have stolen my heart!
I'm on my second one...bought the 610C on a whim when it was on clearance and was hooked within a week, and recently traded up to the 615.
I really thought I would miss my springboards more, but I must have had them more for the novelty since I've been living without them pain free since January!
Now that the 128 MB memory stick is down to $50 (at Fry's), the memory expansion price is competitive with CF or SM.
With the new clie coming out next month with 66 MHz processor, larger screen and built in keyboard...I'm not sure Handspring will be able to come up with anything which can compete.
They really shot themselves in the foot with that "we're not going to make organizers anymore" line.

Having moved to the Kyocera Smartphone, I too was surprised that I didn't miss my springboards. I have quite an investment in them, and I doubt that I will ever completely abandon springboard technology.
Right now, I have the ultimate travel system - and I'd like to get another Visor to "back it up."

Treo form factor without the wireless
My predictions for the new device

Spot-on, Dave
As usual, I think Dave K.'s nailed it. The constraining factor is Handspring's lack of money -- for design, for new parts, for manufacturing. A Treo without the telecomm capability, but with the keypad, is the only thing I can come up with makes sense.
I love VisorCentral, but I've left the Visor behind as a fond first handheld device. Clies, and whatever the B*tch Goddess Technology holds out in the coming years, make up my day-to-day.

I'll reserve judgement until I see what kind of software becomes available. Ultimately, my personal killer app is Pocket Quicken, though, so I can't see leaving PalmOS for the forseeable future.

It'll probably be like the Zaurus, with a hires screen and keyboard.
Well I got to play with a Zaurus at BB last night (about 5 minutes worth). I found it to be very nice. The slide out keyboard intrudes a little on "efficient" thumb typing.
Tonight I found that Dell is offering major discounts and I was able to Pre-order an NR70V from them for 518.00 Shiped overnight (since I live in FLA I got taxed but its still better than 630 had I bought locally).
