-- Palm V beam compatability (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=1074)
A coworker purchased a Palm V. We tried beaming info to one another and were unable to do so.(I have the Visor Deluxe) In both cases, it appeared that the beam was searching and or ready to accept, but in the end, we got a message indicating that no information was found. We each tried beaming each other, and tried several items. Both have the beam function activated. Any ideas? Did Pa;\lm make the unit not compatible with the competitor?
Thanks!
My husband, using his Visor Deluxe, was able to beam something to our daughter's Palm V with no problem. Don't know what the difference was.......
Beaming between any two devices is difficult, whether both are Visors, PalmPilots, or a mixture of the two. A few tips:
1) Make sure the organizers are at least six inches apart. Everyone knows about the maximum beaming distance, but the organizers being too close together can also contribute to problems with the communications.
2) Since the IR ports on different PalmPilot compatibles are situated at different vertical positions, it may be necessary to slightly elevate one of the organizers in order to line the ports up perfectly.

Turn off Afterburner if it installed (on either PDA). There should be no problem with beaming unless you're trying to beam from software other than the native OS beamer.

I sometimes have problems beaming too - I find that I can get around this problem by just going to Prefernces and switching from "Beam Receive" "On", to "Off" and then back to "On" again. This has always worked so far.
