-- Win2K Driver Availability Update (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2504)
I've not been around for a few days, so if anyone has posted info on this I apologise.
I sent an email to HS asking if they had a beta programme for the USB drivers for Win 2000.
I got this reply,
"We will have a beta version of the driver at the end of January.
When the time comes we could use your help!
Please contact us again at that time.
Thanks,
Robert"
So hopefully I should get something from them by the end of Jan, I'll keep you all informed.

Yea... most of us would like to help as well. So make sure you distribute that if you can.
Thanks
No problem, as soon as I hear anything I'll post it here.

Anything I can do to help?
I have the final code 2195 (WIN2K) if you need it, but sorry I am not giving up my Visor

Not much you can do at the moment Temccarty, I'm still waiting for the drivers from Handspring.
Send me your email address and I'll let you know when (or if) they arrive.

Let me know when you get the drivers also.

Well, I've finally got a response to my gentle reminders to HS that they were supposed to be letting the drivers go to testing 8 days ago.
Here it is....

I'm not holding my breath, in fact I'll be V. surprised if the drivers are there for Win2K release date.

I just got a response from tech support regarding the Win2k USB driver:
------------------------
Dear valued customer,
Thank you for your email.
We are waiting for Microsoft to officially release the software then we will have the patch on our web site for customers to download.
Thank you for your interest in Handspring.
Best regards,
Handspring Technical Support.

And they responded in about 15 minutes!!
Obviously, I still haven't received the driver but this is the most specific response I've heard on this subject.

I actually asked them on the phone yesterday. I said "You guys MUST have a driver for the USB cradle and Win2K by now. And since my serial cradle is broken, and it's gonna take you guys 7-10 days to send me a new one, lemme have the USB driver." He said they didn't have it yet. I'm sure he was lying, but what can I do?

Unfortunately, I'm starting to get a little pessimistic about the chances of getting a driver in any short time after Windows 2K is released (only a few days left now).
agoldfish
Heck, I already have my retail version of Windows 2000! I got it in the mail Friday.
I don't think I'll be holding my breath for these drivers...
Check out my new topic

I think we will be getting drivers within the NEXT TWO WEEKS!!!!!
I just got an email from HS dev support...
Summary: Win2k Visor Drivers
Simon,
We are a little behind on the release. The current release date for Win2K desktop suite is Late March.

.... I bet we see them on April the 1st (a coincidence that is not lost on me).

I got an email asking me to participate in the beta program, I replied that I did want to participate. Haven't heard a peep back from them since.

I got my handheld to work with Win2k.. it was easy - get rid of the Visor and get a Palm Vx.. :-)
I suppose there is nothing like constructive comment.
But then again syncing via UBS is an awful lot faster than Serial.
I'll wait for the USB if you don't mind (you've got to have standards)
