Sorry but I don't really understand what I have to do. Maybe I'm not explaining myself clearly, so I will try again:

- I have the 4 Eyemodule databases I want to sync in the SmartMedia card.
- They were put into the card one week ago, with the 1.4 version of MemPlug, and they're nowhere else (yet).
- I can copy them from the card to the visor, but I can't hotsync the pictures after that. The conduit gives the already discussed error.

What would be the process, with the updated MemPlug, to get the pictures sync'ed into the desktop? (is it possible?) I've read your reply many times but can't seem to figure it out!

Thanks a lot for your support,
Jorge

If you haven't sync it to elsewhere yet.
Then it will really be a problem.
Basically those EyeModule database move with v1.4 is corrupted.
And it is impossible recovered.

We feel sorry about that. And this problem won't happen in latest update.

I can't believe it!!!

So are you completely sure there won't be a way to recover the photos? It seems that I can downsize them, the problem seems to be with the full-sized part of the database.

I hope some developer can assist in this.

Sorry, those databases are toast as far as the full size images are concerned, unless you have copies of them before they were moved.

The issue has to do with how the databases know which data goes with which image. When you moved them to Memplug, that information was lost forever. That is why you can get the small images by downsizing them, since all the small images live in one database. But Full-size images need info from multiple databases, and without the correct linking info, they are permanently corrupted.

Can't say it's great news Thanks for your help.

Hey, I think that after losing forever more than 30 photos from my trip to Italy, at least I am entitled to a free copy of PiDirect.

You can see my online road journal (maintained with my Visor + Eyemodule2 + VisorPhone) at http://tour.piensaenpalm.com

I will be writing a tech report soon detailing all the tech glitches and so on.

now this is TOO MUCH

After getting tired of trying to rescue my pictures (converting them to Palm size, etc.) I decided to restore all the apps I had put into the MemPlug.

Guess what? I CAN'T HOTSYNC ANYMORE.

Hotsync gives me a meaningful "unknown error" message.

What's next - deleting ALL the databases????

Hi...can i confirm that this process of copying the databases direct would work with the Flash Module and the Memplug now that there is a new version of PiDirect.

How about Innopocket's Flashplus? WOuld PiDIrect work with it?

AFAIK, we have solved all reported MemPlug's copying databases issues.

PiDirect is specially designed for MemPlug. It won't work in FlashPlus.

Am just curious, PiDeveloper, why is it that the PiDirect app can only work with OS 3.5? i have a visor solo and wnat to buy a memplug or flashplus..and am more into memplug but then the PIDirect limitation on OS is kinda disheartening.

Any way to make PiDirect work for OS3.1 users as well? a whole new market of visor and visor deluxes available.

Hi,

A good news for you is that, besides, PiDirect, we provide PiVFSMgr for all MemPlug users(free download in our webpage), that allow users to run VFS-awared application on card. And with LauncherIII, you could even directly launch application on card.

Since PiDirect closely interact with PalmOS. We have spend a long time to study the possiblity for running PiDirect on 3.1 device, but the limitation on PalmOS v3.1 memory manager and its default launcher make it an impossible task unless Handspring provide upgrade to the OS.

I have study the PalmOS source code after signed the NDA from Palm, so can't discuse the detail of the limitation.

PiDeveloper

Hi. Does this mean that with this PiVFSMgr it functions just like pi direct?

mainly my question is relating to eyemodule 2 where i want to take more photos than internal ram allows.

udnerstand that Pidirect i can DIRECLY write to CF and dont have to move dabatase around (although i can move them around to backup or something lidat)

does PIVFSMGR allow for such a thing as well?

or do i at least have the ability to backup the databases into CF?

tks!

They are different, PiVFSMgr is just a standard layer for running VFS awared application, and some VFS awared application give you the ability to launch program from the card.

While PiDirect is only for PalmOS v3.5 or above, it can help in run program and database from card.

If you are using PiDirect, you can move all your movie and pic upto the card, and still can view them their with PiDirect.

PiDirect only allow you to DIRECTLY read from CF card.
While PiVFSMgr allow your VFS awared application read/write the card. But your applications need to be VFS awared.

PiBackup is bundled in each Memplug, that allow you backup your visor by a simple click.

u know...like u start wit 8MB ram..so u taken until 0 then u move the database to like Backup1.db or something and then start from 8MB again then when finish move to Backup2.db..etcetc

then restore the whole thing one by one

PiMover allows you to trasfer file to/from the external memory card.
You can move your pic databases to the card., and move it back when you want to view it.

Besides, Some photo album software support VFS already. With the help of PiVFSMgr, you could simply store your photo on card. and view it directly.

PiDeveloper
