Visor Deluxe serial cradle for Visor Pro...

First post!

I am selling my Blue Visor Deluxe to upgrade to a Visor Pro, but I use a serial cradle to hotsync. Since the Pro comes with a USB rechargeable cradle, it is completely useless for me. I will get the Travel Charger for free to take care of the Pro's recharging needs so my question is:

Does the Visor Deluxe serial non-rechargeable Hotsync cradle work for the Visor Pro or do I have to get a new cradle? I don't care if it doesn't recharge, I just want to Hotsync.

Handspring.com seems to indicate that it doesn't. Visorcentral.com says that it does.

Anyone know?

Both units have the same hotsync connector and appear to have the same pinouts (with the exception of the charging pin on the Pro). This would indicate to me that the Deluxe serial cradle should work for syncing a Pro or Neo.

Sounds like it COULD be compatible, but:

Has anyone ever had actual experience doing a successful hotsync with a Visor Pro using a Visor Deluxe serial cradle?

as far as i know you can hotsync with with delux cradle, you just can't charge the Pro. i just got a Pro, and the USB plug and a place to plug in the ac adaptor to rechare the Pro. I am sure the Serial plug would be the same. i plan to take you old delux USB cradle and wire a serial plug to it to use on my NT note book at work. hope that works and use my USB/recharging cradle at home on my PC. will let you know if it works.

You can't just wire up a serial connector to the USB cradle. For starters, there aren't enough wires in the cable itself. More importantly is that the serial interface to the Visor requires a small conversion circuit to convert the standard serial signals to the Visor's TTL-level signals. The Visor does not have a true serial interface at the hotsync connector.

It is confirmed!!! MarkEagle, you were right all along!

I wrote Handspring support and they answered the following:

"It is possible to use the Visor Deluxe serial cradle with the Visor Pro"

There you have it! I'm glad, since I'm going to get a travel charger and get to keep my Serial Cradle without having to invest in a pricey Visor Pro recharging cradle.

i guess i will just buy a serial cradel off of e-bay, since i already have the USB-charger cradel that came with the Pro which i use at home on my desk top.
