-- Anyone using NT 4.0 and Outlook? Need Help... (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=1961)
Is anyone using Windows NT 4.0 and Outlook? My first problem is I tried to install Palm Desktop under Administrator (different domain than I normally use to check e-mail) and could not access the software from a user account on my corporate domain. I then created a user account with the same name but different domain (off corporate domain)and was able to load the software and synchronize. My problem is that when I am in Outlook under the user account in the corporate domain (where I want to be), I cannot synchronize and get an error message that says: "Unable to determine conduit configuration... Please try reinstalling the Palm Desktop followed by third party conduits"
Has anyone else run into the same problems and have any work arounds?
Thanks in advance
I just installed palm desktop on my windows NT 4.0 sp 6 machine at work on Monday. I had my system admin give my user temporary workstation administrator status and then installed the software and I didn't have any problems. You might want to search through this newsgroups, because I know this was dicussed sometime in the past three weeks.
Chicagojon,
It sounds like you accessed the Admin account on your desktop. Give your usual login ID administrative privs to install the Palm software directly onto the account you use regularly. Try reinstalling once you've done that.
One last thing, make sure you install PocketMirror (available on the CD) in order to synch with Outlook. I forgot to do this and spent a few minutes trying to figure out why I couldn't synch with Outlook. This will give you the conduit the hotsync application is looking for (and you need to make sure it is set to recognize Outlook).
BTW, I'm running NT4.0 SP4 and have Administrative Privs on my desktop.
