Avantgo Question

i have a VDX and Avantgo but not a wireless modem, which is the best modem to use with Avantgo Wireless??

AvantGo should work with any wireless connection.

What is more important to look at is how long the service will be around, and what your wireless needs are.

If you just want to do simple, small wireless updates on scores, stocks and the like, a cable to your cell phone would work. The cost is low and you only pay for what you need. The cost will be about $40-50 for the cable, a small fee from your wireless provider and then whatever minutes you use will be billed to your phone.

If you are looking to do wireless syncs and constantly update content and info on your PDA, then a dedicated service is what you need. The problem here is that the dedicated service providers have been dropping like flys. Check out GoAmerica or wait until Earthlink completes their purchase of Omnisky and begins to offer the service themselves.

Good luck.

Avantgo Wireless

The best part of Avantgo is the fact that the un-wireless version crams megabites of information into your handheld in just a few minutes. The wireless version is gruesome by comparison; fully updating my "regular" Avantgo via wireless could take up to half an hour. Of course thats not how the wireless version works...you only download the tidbits you want to read...then download again...and again....and again. Its really quite annoying.

I am waiting for a nation-wide roll-out of 3G wireless in the next 24 months before I lay any serious money down on a wireless device or service.
