-- Traveling with the Visor (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=9171)
I was wondering if there are any problems with taking a VDx either through the metal detectors or the x-ray machines? This is the first trip with my VDx and did not want to lose my data.
Since I have not traveled on a plane in a long time what is there stance on using a Visor once in the air? I figured I might take along a e-book to read on the flight, but am not sure on the current policies with electronic devices on planes.
Thanks

Bon Voyage!
I travel quite extensively with my VDx, and have never had a problem. I put it through the x-ray machines and everything.
It's great for e-books on long flights (bring spare batteries just in case) and the Dx always gets a lot of attention. I've beamed games to other Palm users and have played IRBattleships with a lot of folks. Nothing gets a conversation started faster than a blue VDx
You can use the Visor after takeoff. The Visor is one of those "approved electronic devices" since the do not send out signals like cell phones or pagers (or the Palm VII). Just don't try to use any wireless Springboard modules inflight.

Agree, I second the "put it right on the xray belt" no problems at all.
And I too read my ebooks on the flights.
I always found it funny to have to turn off the Visor for take off. All that really does is turn off the screen.
i put mine through the x-ray all the time...except for once when there was a long line up and i didn't want it getting through before me...they asked me to turn on the visor to see if actually was JUST a handheld computer. I then walked through the metal detector (at first with the visor..which set off all sorts of alarms) with out the visor.
it has started a few conversations on planes (i have a blue VDX aswell). However, i think i'd be in many more conversations if i was female
(guys will use almost anything to strike up a conversation with a woman!)
