-- Gameface for Prism @ Amazon (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=9785)
I don't know if anybody else cares, but the Gameface for the Prism is now selling at Amazon. The Handspring website doesn't even list it yet. Hmmm... My order "ships" in 2-3 days.
That's strange, the DFW sales rep for Handspring was at our pug meeting last night and he said it wouldn't be available until January of 2001. I wonder if Amazon is mistaken. He had a gameface for the Deluxe with him and I tried it on my Prism. It would not contact the address button. The scroll and todo button worked with the joystick, just not the address. Maybe you could build it up to make contact and it would work fine. When they do release it for the Prism, it had better not cost any more than the one for the Deluxe.

I just checked Amazon's site and it states that it is only available and works with Visor, Visor Deluxe, and Visor Platinum. Plus I called Handspring about it yesterday and they stated it will be available for Prism in Jan 2001.

I found what you are talking about at Amazon

It looks like the format for the non-prism units, i.e. power button relief on the left. I wonder if it's a mistake or not.

It's out... Went to the post office today and found a box from Amazon. "What could this be?," I thought... Opened the box and it turned out to be a Prism Gameface, courtesy of my grandfather who bought it for me before Christmas from my Amazon Wish List.
My initial impressions are good. It's molded in silver plastic, which I think looks a bit better than the plastic used on the "standard". The buttons and gamepad are blue, to match the Prism.
To my surprise, I actually like it better with the little screw-on joystick attached than in pure gamepad mode. It adds some extra "throw" to the controller--there's so little movement in gamepad mode that it's not really comfortable. Put your thumb at the top of the joystick, though, and control is great. Zap!2016 was much easier to play.
Speaking of Zap!2016... The bundled CD sets a record, I think, for most unused space on a disc. Counting readme files in multiple languages, all the files take up a mere 438K of the disc. It's a shame Handspring didn't have Astraware put demos of some of their other games on there.
The version of Zap!2016 is the same as the registered version you get from Astraware, but the default key layout is optimized for the Gameface.
Overall, I'm really pleased with it. $39.95 is a bit much for a controller with no electronics or switches, but if you haven't already registered the excellent Zap!2016, it makes the price of the bundle a lot more palatable.
