-- My modem won't go online (Mac) because of Visor (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2533)
Calling all Mac users!
My iBook uses Mac OS9, which has run without a problem, until I tried to go online with the modem.
Then it kept saying that there's a conflict with the serial port (this doesn't make sense because my iBook has NO serial port and uses a USB-only cradle for hot-syncing). I've checked the modem and appletalk, and nothing seems to be wrong.
If there's a way to disable HotSync or whatever temporarily so that I can go online via my phone line, I'd appreciate it.
P.S. I'm a REAL Palm newbie--got my Visor Deluxe two days ago and am learning how to use (love love love it so far). You will see a LOT of questions from me in the near future, and none of them have to do with my beloved iBook. ;-)
In the Hotsync Manager Software you need to click the 'Serial Port Settings' Tab, and disable everything but USB Setup. If Local Setup or Modem setup is Checked, that is what is causing the problem.
Even though you don't have any serial ports, your built-in modem is treated like a serial port, even though it's not a PORT, just a modem plug in.
Hope this solves your problem..
