Xp

I upgraded to XP last November. I cannot hotsync. I am using a USB. I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled using 401b. It hasn't worked.

I have checked that the drivers are on the device. OK

When I install the software the hardware wizard doesn't come up.

I have tried by removing the all software and device driver in system and then reinstalling all software. I used Norton to remove all registry files after all software has been removed.

You've been Whacked.

Of the three VDX setups in my vicinity, two have lost their ability to Hotsynch in the past three months (following over a year of faithful service). Both had viruses. Must have targetted something to do with the hardware interface.

In both cases we ended up reformatting and reinstalling from scratch.

There have been a number of instances of this happening lately, with nothing showing up on virus scans (both mine did). I still think its a virus, or something in a file sharing program that left a trojan horse behind that either disabled or wiped out something related to hotsynching.

Try using System Restore to back the system up to a point where you knew you had the ability to Hotsych.

Angry XP & USB Drivers for Visor Edge

I've been trying to Sync my Visor Edge with HotSync on Win XP Pro but am having problems.

When I start HotSync from my visor Win XP reports that it found new hardware (XP correctly identifies the Visor) and wants to install a driver but can't find a driver to install. I've searched the handspring.com and the Windows Update sites and came up blank.

Please help!!!

Asking the obvious, have you downloaded the 4.0.1 palm desktop from the handspring site? That contains the driver you need. Follow the instructions for it.

If you have, I am not sure.

Hi,

Yes I did, thanks for taking the time to answer. I just got it working a moment ago...

The problem was as follows... On the distribution CD was an old version of the palm desktop, which I installed. It obviously didn't work on XP. I then downloaded the latest version of the handspring site and tried to install this also didn't work. Got the USB utility from the site and re-installed the desktop again... again no joy. I then read a mesage on another board stating that the USB tool does not remove all the registry entries so I uninstalled the desktop, ran the USB utilitie, deleted all the files and directories and removed all the registry keys and then installed the latest version of the desktop and it worked.

Kindest Regards,
