VISOR 8MB dead???

My replaced batteried died in just two days and there was a
leak too. I thought the batteries were dead. When I replaced
the batteries, all am seeing is a bunch thick veritcal lines on
the LCD. None of the buttons work (including the power button).
Power button has no effect on those veritcal lines on the LCD.

Strange!

I opened the unit and I found a 0.1 F cap (GC5.5V0.10F) across
the battery circuit on the Button Board (part number 03-0005-00).

Do you guys have any idea this cap may be bad?
Or the main board itself is bad???

I looked at the handspring support site, their repair prices are
exorbitant.

Thanks so much for all your suggestions and help on this.

Did you try doing a hard (or soft) reset on the visor?

use a paperclip (or unscrew the tip of the stylus if you have one of the metal styli) and insert it into the small hole on the back of the visor.

see if that works...

it might just need to be reset.

If that doesn't work let me know.

If this is the deluxe, I have a motherboard and/or a button board I could sell you if you were interested.

I tried all I can ...

Hard reset / soft reset / power on reset nothing works!

The situation is the same!!

How much are you gonna charge for the button board and / or
the main board!??

Thanks

Hey,

I looked at the prices on gethightech.com

they want $9.99 for the button board
and $15.00 for the motherboard (with memory)

plus they have flat rate shipping of $5.99

which means if you bought them both from them you would spend: $30.98

I could let you have them both for $25 (including shipping.)

or if you only want to buy one:

buttonboard - $10 (incl. shipping)
Motherboard - $16 (incl. shipping)

let me know (feel free to click the 'e-mail' button below this post)
