Here is my (new!) S/N info:
ABBEB42902361
Blue Visor Deluxe
Ordered 9/23/99
Received 11/10/99
This is interesting. It appears that the serial number relates to the date of the order, not the date of manufacture. So a Visor ordered in November could be from the same manufactoring batch as one ordered in September (Quite possible if it's Orange).
So I would guess that the comment "They didn't make any green in week X" might actualy be "They didn't take any orders for green in week X".

Blue Deluxe, order 9/15 and received 10/26
Number ABBEB37900285
Dru Lee,
Sorry to blow your theory, but mine was ordered 9/17 and has a week 43 serial number...
IF they were shipped FIFO, the serial numbers would have roughly matched the order dates. Since that didn't happen, the serials would more closely match the order in which they were shipped.
>>For those who are wondering on the palm the 6th,7th,8th digits represent the date. We use a combination of letters and numbers to decode the date.<<
SIH, I think most of us are wondering how quickly we'd buy a Palm Vx if the price were competitive.....
ABAEB39901263
I'm suprised that I'm the first to post with the 399 batch. Do I get a prize? :-)
Cheers,
Wes
What would the serial number be for a non deluxe visor (Visor Solo or Visor)?
Anyone know?

Received today (Ordered Oct 18th)
Serial # ABBEB44901871
Blue Visor Deluxe
Staad: I think you're right. The week isn't teh week ordered, but something to do with the week it was shipped/processed. Mine is 449 which is week 44 of 99. The 44th week was the first week of November (according to my Visor) but I ordered Oct 18th. Could the 44 refer to the week the order got out of Toronto and was sent to California perhaps? I know my paperwork was still in Toronto on Nov 4th because when I ordered another Visor for my wife they still had the paperwork for my original order.
For those who havn't followed along, the order taking company is in Toronto, alledgedly on Bloor street. (My wife grew up in East York Toronto so I'm a little bit familier with the area).

Just received my Ice unit after ordering 9/14 on the phone. Serial number: ABEEB39900049
Took a letter to Donna, but I received the unit in Indianapolis 2 days after I sent the letter. Still waiting the serial sync cradle and the backup module, but I'm working!!

Well, I know I received mine in just 4 weeks and there are still a few people waiting from mid September (9 weeks! Wow!). But if it makes you feel any better my serial cradle is back ordered. Now that doesn't sound like much, but we run NT and Linux at work and I have a Pentium 1 200Mhz at home. My old Pentium doesn't have PCI slots and every available USB board works only with a PCI slot. So the only way I can use my USB port cradle is if I buy a new motherboard and CPU for my home computer.
It's probably time to upgrade anyway, but it's not worth spending $400 to $500 right before Christmas and tax time just to save a week of waiting.
So I've got all these cool programs that I've downloaded and I can't use them. Oh well.
I received my BVD yesterday (11/18). It is SN ABBEB41900494. I ordered it 9/18, so I believe the date code is related to the manufacturing date, not the order date.
The highest serial portion (digits 9-13) reported so far is 1794. Does this mean they have been making batches of about 2000? Anyone have a higher serial? Batches from week 36 through week 44 (9 total) implies about 18000 Visors manufactured to date.
Yeah, but if that's 2000 per color per week, that could mean 90,000 are out there.
If that's the case, then no wonder they are swamped.
Lets think a second. Maybe 2000 graphite, 2000 blue, 1000 ice, 500 orange, and 500 green per week. 6000/week or 54,000.
Lets say 50,000 units. At 250 a pop that's $12.5 million in the first couple of months of revenue.
That's not bad for a startup.
BVD Recieved today. Ordered via Web 10/6
ABBEB37900472
This seems like a much lower number than some of the others recieved recently. Referb unit sold as new? I doubt it, but who knows!?
Maybe the warehouse is getting empty, and they don't practice FIFO with their inventory, instead doing LIFO?
C. Russel asked if anyone had a 2mb model. I do and the Serial # is AAAEB43901325. Since all of the rest of you have VDXs with a serial number starting with AB, I guess the second A means the 2mb.
