Does anyone here sync with Yahoo?

I am having a problem with email address in my address book. If a person has more than 1 email address in my Visor, when I sync with yahoo, the email addresses are all run together in 1 email address field.

Anyone know how to fix this?

TIA

What product are you using, Intellisync or TrueSync. I use TrueSync and do not have that problem. Have you checked your field mapping?

I have tried both...How do you have your field mapping for email addresses set up?

Out of curiosity, has anyone here synced two yahoo accounts with two palm desktop accounts from the same pc?

Any advantages of True Sync or Intellisync over the other?

I think Intellisync does a better job. It also sync with memo pad and the to-do list.

The advantages of TrueSync is that it allows simultaneous syncing to more than one applicaiton. You can sync between your Visor, Palm Desktop, Yahoo, Outlook, etc. all at the same time. Another advantage is more flexibility for field mapping. You can map fields differently for different categories. It supports syncing of Contacts, Calendar and Todo's.

The advantage or Intellisync is that it syncs memos which TrueSync does not.

The question that started this thread was regarding the email address in the addressbook.

As for syncing Yahoo email, you just need to turn on POP3 mail at Yahoo and then have it sync to your email client.

I never did get it to work. It was doing the same thing with TrueSync. That is why I switched.

Maybe it is a field mapping thing, but when I looked at the mappings in Truesync, Yahoo has Email 1, Email 2, and Email 3. But the Palm only has Email 1.

How do you have your email mapped with TrueSync?

Posted by bregent on 01-27-2001 05:20 PM:

With Truesync, I had the following mapping:

Palm........Yahoo
-----------------
E-Mail Email
E-Mail 2 Alt. Email 1
E-Mail 3 Alt. Email 2

If I remember correctly, all of the email addresses from Yahoo populated into unique email fields on the Palm.

With Intellisync, it apperears to put all of the email fields from Yahoo together into 1 Palm email field and then inserts the text "E-mail 2:" before the second email address. (This inserted text may be new behavior that was not in the beta version, I'm not sure).

Thinking about it, this offers an advantage. Since you have a very limited number of fields on the Palm, this method saves fields.

Another problem was that it also seemed to save these merged email fields back to the main Yahoo email but kept the alt email fields intact. But I fixed those manually and it appears to sync everything properly now.
