I'm thinking about buying myself a stowaway, but I was wondering what kind of cases people buy with them? I want to keep my visor and keyboard together, but I don't want anything too bulky.

Any Ideas?

Not to put anyone down, but I really don't see a need for a real case. IT's good to maybe put it in like a cloth covering, but the Stowaway is so strong, that a case is a waste of money. Niethng abotu the stowaway, when dropped, the energy that is release from beign abrubtly stops, opens it, instead of cracking it. (my english bad.. me ra, the sun god!)

Actually, I think there is a need for a case - some kind of covering at least. I'd been dropping my Stowaway into my tote bag, and not thinking much of it. However, those little black rubber thingies that keep it from sliding when opened do come off. I discovered this the hard way - cleaning out my bag, I found one, considered it for a moment, didn't know what it was, and tossed it into the wastepaper basket. Then I took a look at the Stowaway and panicked, not realizing that I'd thown about the rubber thingie myself. Luckily the light bulb over my head exploded and I fished the thingie out of the trash. Getting it back in wasn't easy, but I've learned my lesson.

Landware Makes a Case for the Go Type! Keyboard that appears it would work nicely with the Stowaway. Though I haven't actually played with one It seems you could slip the visor into one of the small pockets and the Stowaway into the other. You would then have another nice, big, pocket for other stuff, (Cables, Modules, Batteries, Ect. ect.)

Visor looks like a tight squeeze

I think some one else had a post about that case and said the Visor was too snug in that case. The photo shows a much thinner PDA. Have you actually used this case with success?

I keep my visor and my keyboard together with a thick rubber band I got off some brocolli.

Hey, that's an idea, MC.

A thick (1-2 inches across), soft elastic band to tie separate devices together (modules, stowaway, visor, stylus). It's got to be tight, but easily removed. Velcro?

I know you are looking for something that will hold them both...but this works for me. Keeping my Visor and keyboard together was just too big.

It's from a great company called Levenger. The case is nappa leather and is wonderful. A perfect fit.

Targus stowaway and pda case

You don't need velcro or anything wierd to use the Targus pda/stowaway combo case, do you? One of the things I've been rather fanatically avoiding is sticking anything to the back of my Visor.

I'm also curious about the "snug" fit. Since Targus is the only manufacturer of a stowaway keyboard for the Visor, one would think that they would make a case specifically for the Visor.

There was mention that the side of the Visor was exposed. How does the case rank in terms of screen protection?

Let us know if the leather stretches any more to accomidate the Visor. Okay?

Unfortunately it does use velcro. It wasn't a problem for us because her Visor was formerly in a Devian case (which also used velcro). The screen protection's so-so. The cover is basically thick leather. She puts her Visor in the case with the hard plastic cover that came with the Visor. I guess it would have more room if you didn't use the plastic cover.

As for the fit around the Stowaway: if you're careful with the zipper, it closes without much trouble. At first we were struggling with it quite a bit, but it gets easier the more you use it.

It is (obviously) a pretty thick case as well . . .

I got one when I bought my keyboard b/c Staples was having a rebate on it. (How I had to fight to have rebate honored is another story.)

I don't use it often b/c the Stowaway and the VDX together make a very wide package. However, I do use it occasionally.

The velcro thing is solved by attaching the velcro to the lid/cover that came with the VDX, instead of to the VDX itself.

I like the snug fit on the keyboard b/c I know it's not moving around in there.

A good case, if a little large, is the Eagle Creek Protect-It Excursion, http://www.eaglecreek.com/travel_ac...ies/40057.html.

It has a moderate amount of padding, and three options for carrying it: fanny-pack belt, shoulder strap and cloth handle. In the main compartment I can easily carry my Nokia 6100 cell phone, Visor Prism and Stowaway, as well as a paper steno pad. It also has two smaller compartments on the front, and the flap over the top has a thin zippered compartment, too. One side has a small pouch which you could use for a cell phone, the other has two pen pockets.

If all you want is a PDA/Stowaway case, this is probably too big for your needs. But if you want one compact bag that can hold it all, this is great.

Looking for a not-too-bulky keyboard for the Visor? Try FitalyStamp. Requires no covers, takes up no room, requires no power, fully supports the idea of handhelds (computer in your pocket), gives you very good speed, is very reliable, highly efficient in that it uses keyboard technology based on computer analysis of usage of letters in normal English text for input by stylus (as opposed to an 1860 technology which designed qwerty to avoid jammed keys in manual typewriters when using 10 fingers).

I know this isn't the answer you expected, but all the above is true. I think ANY portable keyboard attached to a device specifically designed to fit into your shirt pocket is an abomination. If you absolutely positively need qwerty, get a laptop and forget about the advantages of a wonderful new millenium technology in your shirt pocket.

I've made up my mind!!

I'm going to make my own case. I'm a creative person, with some pretty wack ideas. So I'm going to the fabric store tonight and then I'm going to my friend's house so that we can have a b---- & stitch night. I'll post pictures when I'm done.
