-- Visor Just Bit the Dust, Anyone Else? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2235)
I've been using my IVD for about two months now. I really haven't had too many problems with it (a soft reset here and there). Today, after running it for about 10 minutes, it bit the dust. The startup screen began flashing, and I couldn't do anything to make it stop (power off, remove batteries, etc.). Finally I had to hard reset (which totally killed me becase of all the third-party programs I've got). I guess my next purchase is a backup module. Anyone else have problems like this?
Sorry, my GVD hase been great since I got it, but I do have one piece of advice:
Get BackupBuddy. It hotsyncs (up to) everything on your Visor. I know this doesn't help you now, but if you had been using it, you could have just restored after the hard reset.

Why do you need backup buddy? Why can't you just do a hard reset and re-hotsynch?
Or try BackupAll - it's a free backup utility...but I don't know how it compares to BackupBuddy
I just used BackupAll after a hard reset and it put all my 3rd party software back on. The categories in my address book were all screwed up, but that may just be my own fault. I don't see how BackupAll would effect that.
sseligson,
BackupBuddy will take care of everything on your Visor. A regular hot-sync after a hard reset will only restore the build-in apps. The first time I had to restore from BackupBuddy (after a malignant hack), I was a little apprehensive, but it worked great!
