Voice recoginition is the coolest thing i have seen for most computers i think it would be really cool to see it in the next couple of years it would make things much faster and fun on the visor's springboard... What do you think?

Oddly enough, Jeff Hawkins (inventor of the PalmPilot and Visor) has said that his research shows that voice recognition isn't a very efficient way to enter data. I think it's a great idea for people with accesability problems, but I don't think it's going to be useful in the near future for most people.

However, I DO think that palm computers are showing the world the future in one major way. Think about the idea of having a complete OS with a bunch of useful programs and a ton of e-books all in an 8Meg package! This is totally counter to the Micro$oft frame of mind. I think the Palm OS and the Palm software represent the future of small, cheap, fast and truely personal computers.

I agree with you but cheap is not the word for handspring

I think another useful application is health, credit, and id should be on an integrated springboard to implament a whole new variety of consumers to the PALM comunity What do you think?

I'm just not a fan of voice recognition really (If anyone is willing to "let me borrow" some kind of software for the computer.. let me know and I might change my mind).

There's just some things I wouldn't want to do in public.. and one of them is talk to myself. Or imagine if everyone's got one of these things.. it will be a loud mess. Palm OS is so simple as it is, I think it would be more of a hassle to make it open "Address book" instead of just clicking one or two buttons. I just agree with Hawkins in that it seems like a silly idea.

Cool

While voice recognition seems to be catching on and working better and better in the PC world, I think it's probably still quite a bit far off for the PDA world. For one, it's going to be very difficult to enter data by voice if you're in a crowded airport or mall someplace.

But I think that Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is right around the corner for PDAs. There's already a company that is due to release an OCR pen sometime in December, and I am curious to see how this works. It it gets good reviews and is priced right, I will probably purchase one.

Cool

My theory is if we can do it lets do it from small projects to large from stupid to ingenious This is the only way to suceed or to die trying to, how else are we to advance in the pda industry. We should do anything and everything and let the consumers tell you nothing cause if you can do it you are still contributing to the growth technology one step at a time. the only thing i am doing is trying to find the next step. Suppose the guy who invented the computer did not want to make it smaller, it may have not been apealing, then we wouldnt even be having this discussion right now. all i am saying is do what you can in the time that you can to contribute anything that you can

What do you think????
