-- Psion Travel Modem - does it work? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=3838)
Has anyone had any success getting the Psion Travel Modem to work with their Visor? I haven't, and have received lackadaisical tech support from Psion. Their web site refers to Handspring-specific features of their Palm compatible software - features which aren't part of the software download package.
If anyone has had any luck with this product, I'd love to hear back (especially any AT initialization string...)
Here's how I got mine to work:
Go to Palm's website and download the "enhanced infrared update files."
There are 4 files - only 3 are needed:
1. IRLib.prc
2. SerialIRPnl.prc
3. SerIRCommLib.prc
Install thes to your Visor.
The Serial/IR option will now appear in preferences.
From the preferences menu select "infrared."
Next, select modem and set the following:
Modem: Custom
Speed: 57,600 bps
Speaker: medium
Flow Control: Auto
Country: OTHER (!!!select country later within Easy Switch app!!!)
String: ATZ
Download and install "Easy Switch" from Psion
Turn modem on.
Run Easy Switch app. !!! NOW !!! Select country.
tap menu, select modem, tap "configure Palm OS"

Thanks for the info. The problem I had was that Psion had posted an outdated version of EasySwitch on their website. After a week their tech support sent me the updated version, and it works just fine now.
Psion travel modem
I have followed the threads here about the Psion 56K modem and have followed all instructions to the letter. But I still get an error message: modem not found (0x1106). Has anyone else had this experience?
