Gps

It is my understanding that Delorme Mapping software is incompatible with the Magellan GPS module. Has anyone tried Rand McNally's Streetfinder software?

I've tried Mapopolis but the demo map seems a little too "busy" for my tastes. I would imagine that if I bought the map I could zoom in more to eliminate the clutter but would like a single source for multiple maps instead of paying by the map.

Any suggestions.

They have all the latest US and European maps ...and they are all included, you do not to have to pay anything else.

I use mapopolis 4.0 with my Magellan. You can go to the preferences screen and turn off whatever features you dont need and reduce the map details (unnamed roads, etc).

Which Delorme Mapping software are you talking about? Are you talking about Solus Pro 3.0? If so, did you download the patch? I find no problem with Solus Pro 3.0. I used it all the time to get Topo maps.

Solus Pro 3.0 and Delorme topo works fine with the Prism-Magellan combination. You can, in addition, download maps free from their website. I have been storing a supply of relevant maps on memplug and moving them as needed before attaching the Magellan.

I decided to go with Rand McNally Streetfinder. I downloaded Mapopolis and even bought two of the maps but didn't like it. The maps were very busy and took forever to re-draw. I also subscribed and tried Marcosoft's updated maps (not much difference)

I chose Streetfinder over Delorme mainly for the price. The Streetfinder was $29 compared to Delorme's atlas at $49. I can use Streetfinder on my laptop as needed and carry maps on the Prism to use with the GPS.

Thanks for the help. Now I just need to find a cradle for the car to hold my Prism and Magellan.
