Is it bad for the visor (i have the deluxe) to leave any modules (such as the eyemodule) in the springboard when they're not in use?

I do not know of any problems caused by leaving the modules in. However, if the module draws from the Visor's power supply, it may shorten the life of your batteries.

I left my Memory Access module in the Visor a couple of times, and in both cases, the Visor's power was drained to the point where the memory was completely wiped out. Ordinarily, if your Visors batteries are drained, you have a couple of weeks to replace them (as long as you keep the batteries in) before the memory gets wiped out. Also in both cases, I simply left the module in overnight. My guess is that the vibrating alarm was triggered throughout the night without my knowing it. Fortunately, I had my favorite module, the Backup Module, to save the day.

And don't leave the Backup Module in the Visor. If you lose or damage the Visor, you still want to be able to have your data. Keep it in a separate place.

I have an eyemodule springboard. I thought it�s cool to leave it in the slot that I always have it with me - it drained my batteries within about 1 day!!!!

So be careful, unless a very good friend of you is working for Duracell ;-)

I keep my eyeModule in all day and night. Never has any problems with it draining the batteries on my Prism. I have heard horror stories of the button being pressed on the eyemodule while in a bag. This has the unfortunate effect of photographing the inside of a bag for hours.

I spoke with a Hanspring rep about this very same issue. No matter the springboard there will be some extra battery drain from the visor so that it can "remember" that the springboard is inserted. Other than that I think that it depends on the module that's left in.

My experience with the eyemodule is that if you take it off "live" mode before you turn the visor off battery drain is much less, I store the eyemodule in the visor all the time.

I leave my InnoPak 2V in all the time. I haven't noticed any battery drain as a result - if there is any, it's slight.

Very interesting. I'd read a bit about the eyemodule draining a Visor to the point of battery depletion and memory loss, and was careful with mine and my Prism... at first.

But frankly, my eyemodule lives in my Visor now - they're an inseperable pair - and I've not seen any battery drain problems at all... at least related to the eyemodule not being in use at the time.

My eyemodule and Prism spent this long weekend locked together, for example, and I still have a full battery. (I hadn't picked up either - a rarity!)

I have had the eyemodule turn on while in the Visor case, and that definitely drains a battery fast. Each time, however, I caught it before it's too late (usually I probably tinker with my Visor too much). It is rarely the button on the eyemodule, though, but by something pressing against the Visor power button when the eyemodule application was the last active.

I have had a similar battery drain with the ThinModem in the Visor. It happened twice, once I had been using the modem for an extended period and the disconnect did not work from the menu. I forced a disconnect by removing the telephone line. Later, I noticed that the alarm reminder screen for appointments from my Date Book resorted to the old reminder look (small print with the alarm clock in the upper corner) rather than the new look (larger print with two boxes on the reminder screen). After I did a soft reset, and change the batteries, the problem went away. Maybe it is something with the module, maybe something with the software. The second time, I noticed that the ThinModem was not seated completely flush. Again, the old reminder screen appeared, so I pressed the ThinModem into place, did a soft reset and the batteries stopped draining.

Has anyone had a problem with resets (soft or hard) when leaving the 8mb module in? I have found it almost impossible to do a soft reset and hard to do a hard reset if I leave the module in. I don't use any hacks or overclockers.
