Hi, I have finally got my serial port which I ordered. I brought to work today to try to install on my NT. During the installation, it asked me to place visor on the cradle so it could try to detect the cradle which is connected to serial port on my NT machine. I did that, but I got a message saying that it can't detect it. I then manually chosed COM2. after I installed it, I press the hotsync bottom. But there is just no reaction at all..
our company runs on network, would this be the reason why my visor wouldn't sync with serial port? (I just sync at home this mornign with my USB and it worked fine)...
Please help me

I'm going to assume that you performed the install with local admin rights. You also need to make sure that the COM port is active in BIOS and in the "Ports" section of the Control Panel, and that the settings are consistent between the two. Finally, make sure that there is not an IRQ conflict.

Oh. A couple more things. Make sure that the COM port speed cranked up (115Kbps if I recall correctly). Also be sure to shutdown, power-off, and reboot before doing that first attempted sync.

There are really two issues:

1. Is there a problem with the Hot Synch Cradle? There were a bunch of them that were DOA. I needed to replace one of the two I bought.

2. Are your settings correct? Here are the settings that I used, so you might try them. Although you will need to change them if you have a conflict. That is the key as Yucca said, you need to make sure that there is no conflict. You also need to have admin rights to your desktop PC. If you don't, you won't be able to change any settings.

Start/Settings/Control Panel/Ports/COM1 - Settings

8 N 1 - Flow Control = None
Advanced: COM1 IO Port Address set to 3f8 and the IRQ set for 4

Your settings might be different for your PC, but this worked on both my home PC, with a modem hooked up to COM2, and on my PC at the office, which is hooked up to the network.

Good Luck

Larry and Yucca, thanks so much for the tips. I took the cradle with me home yesterday. If can sync with my computer with no problem. so I don't think it's the problem with the serial cradle itself. I am going to try all the tips which you guys provided when I go to work on Monday. Once again, thanks for helping me out.
