-- Upgrade from VDx? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=11345)

Question

I could use some advice. I own a Visor Deluxe and absolutely love it. I was cautious about buying one, but realize now that it is the most useful thing Ive ever spent a buck on. Im already an organized person but this makes sure I dont forget anything as I rush from school to work to running errands. I also take pages of meeting and class notes with it. Ive been thinking about getting one for my wife, who could use it at work for scheduling, email, shopping, and games. Now my problem:

Should I get her a base model, since she wont load it up with programs the way I do? OR: Do I give her my VDx and get myself a VPlt or VPr? I already overclock (26mhz) and I dont think I would even notice the speed of a Platinum. Id like the Prism, but mainly for the rechargeable batteries & cradle. Im also worried that the Prism would fade in sunlight and be unreadable. Maybe I just have upgrade-syndrome. Any advice? Thanks!

You sound like me.
I'd swap w/the lady.
I'm sure a tad of upgrade-itis is in there, but it's not w/out real, good cause.
Plat or Prism, that's the rub.
If the $s is no shakes, I'd go color. If you don't like it, you can always return in w/in 30 days, no?
And the Plat also has 16 shades of gray (HSVD doesn't), w/O.S. 3.5 (which may not be much more than 3.2h [is it?], but what the hey).
That's what I'd do if I were you, and you could hear me now and believe me later, and think about it another time, and reflect upon it after ...

I'm a wisenheimer, I know...

I used to think that the faster processor was a waste, but I run several apps that take a few moments to display (AvantGo and Datebook4). It gets old at times, when you switch back and forth a lot.

If mine broke, I would probably get the Platinum just for the speed. I just wish I could get it in black like my Deluxe.

Cool

I had the same problem. I went with the Prism and I'm very happy with the decision. Of course now that my wife has discovered the joys of PDA's she has been talking about getting a Prism, too. (I guess the Deluxe will go to the kids next!)

Start your wife with the deluxe and upgrade to a Prism.

However, as to your concern about the Prism in sunlight... Well, I got one and it's basically useless in the sun. It's POSSIBLE, but VERY difficult to see applications outside.

Does the Platinum do a decent job of mimicing colors with shades? For instance - if you have a red and yellow icon in Datebook4 can you tell the difference on the Platinum?
