-- NIMH voltage question?? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=20832)

Question NIMH voltage question??

I've been experimenting with different chargers.
I'm using high capacity NIMH's (700 mAH) from NexCell on a VisorDeluxe.

I'm using a RadioShack 1hr charger. When I pop in a freshly charged set, my voltage meter applet shows a volatage level around 2.75.

This was actually up from my previous charger (also Radio Shack), not a fast charger, that never got them above 2.50, even though it had a Hi Cap setting.

Way back when, I used a cheap Rayovac charger, they would get up to almost 3.00 but were really hot to the touch and soon were not able to hold much of a charge at all.

What are other's experiences? Which charger do you recommend?

Thanks.

I have Radioshack 600 mAh batteries and the 8 hour charger. If I take freshly charged batteries right out of the charger and pop them into my Platinum, the initial voltage is around 2.8V, but it drops down to about 2.65V fairly quickly and stays in the 2.6-2.65V range for a while.

If I grab a charged set that have been sitting for a little while, the initial voltage is usually around 2.6-2.65V.

NiMH batteries are 1.2v each for a total of 2.4v. They will show
voltages up to 3v using a trickle charger and keeping them in
it for a while. Are you supprised to not see 3.0v?

Rapid chargers do not usually charge batteries to 99% like trickle
chargers do, unless they specifically state that it changes to a
trickle charge.
