Question

How is it to use the visor through the plastic cover? No problems writing or selecting buttons? I do not have a visor yet, but I want to find a good belt case. This looks like it might be it.

Thumbs up

Just received my EB Slipper Visor yesterday and am also duly impressed: well-designed, sturdy, clean-looking.

The clip is great: strong spring, nice hook underneath to catch on belt when accidentally bumped, allows Visor to swivel.

I don't particularly like the plastic window covering the buttons, makes it hard to hit the off button. I'll try it for longer before deciding to cut the window out.

Also, since I wanted this to completely replace my old wallet, I'm a bit disappointed that it only handles about 2 cards and two bills (once-folded bills slid into the side pocket of the flap obscure one of the velcro closures, also.)

But still the best on the market if you want to combine PDA case, wallet, and good looks.

Cool

Received my case after 3 1/2 week wait. Like the form, the fit, and the looks. First two hot synchs have been a real pain. I'm trusting that breaking the case in will make it better. I find that the plastic over the buttons is no problem at all.

We'll have up my review of the Slipper by Monday.

I received my EB slipper case a couple of days ago after waiting for about 3 weeks. I noticed though that the hairy cloth that the velcro stips are worn out already? Is this really the way it is or is it an inferior item I got? I have to exert a lot of pressure in order for the velcro to attach to the cloth to close the case.

I agree about the furry velcro part. Wouldn't it be better to reverse hook & furry velcro pads?

Yesterday I bumped into a fellow shopper at CompUSA and he showed me his EB slipper. Dang it looked nice except for that unsightly furry velco staring at you - it almost wins the competition for attention from the PDA screen.

Anybody agree and think it would matter to send EB cases a note on reversing the Velcro pads?

Question I've not seen asked, do you need to remove the Visor from the case to install/remove Springboards? I have the backup springboard and use it a couple of times a week. I currently have to pull my Visor out of the Handspring case to put in a springboard, the EB case would be a great advantage if I could get around that.

Thanks,

Second question, do they totally cover up the "color" of the colored Visors? I'm actually kinda tired of the color, thought it would be really cool, now kinda blah, so I wouldn't mind if it did cover it up. It would be strange tho' if some of the blue was peeking around corners...

Third question, anyone buy one in Burgundy? How do you like it? Thought something other than plain black would be interesting

Plutnicki,
All I have is the springboard cover but have no trouble extracting it and reinserting it without taking off the slipper. There is sufficient space to slip one finger in behind the Visor to pull the springboard out.

I had called as the site had said they were in stock after being out for a while. The lady said the brown were in stock, not the black I ordered. I finally got mine after 4 weeks. (I did get a e mail that it had shipped, 2 days to receive) I have had this (belt clip) case only one day but compared to the stock cover (too much to handle, it should be a flip cover), the Handspring belt case (too hard to get out of case, Springboard cover would pull off, broke easily), another belt clip case from Palm Gear (was horizontal and could not change opening to rear) the Slipper Visor case is the greatest. You have to learn not to pull up on the Visor while pushing down on the release button (it comes out horizontal or vertical) but I don't fear dropping it (which I have with no damage) or losing the case. BTW there are 2 places to put cards in the cover. Buy it! ($47 including shipping and tax in CA.)

Thumbs up

I just got mine yesterday after 7 weeks. I do think it was worth it in the end.

Just a detailed preview while I am here.

The leather seems like nice quality and the stitching seems fine except for some loose threads in corners etc.... Time will tell if it frays or not. The Visor fits rather well and I dont think there will be any problems getting a springboard module in and out as you can reach behind it and get it out. If I had to do it a lot it may be annoying. Once in awhile I think would be fine. Getting the Visor out for a battery change is easy no problem there.

It is weird though, even though the leather is fairly thin, the screen seems indented or sunk in like there is a thick frame around it, which there is. It will take getting used to it since I was so used to having nothing on the front.

The belt clip is nice. Even if you dont plan on using it, it lays flat enough to not get in the way. I would order one with the clip anyway in case you change your mind later on. You do have to remember NOT to pull up on the Visor until AFTER you push the release button down. The clip definitely should have been thicker. It does move around on the belt. I would not have minded them using the standard clip type (Like The Clip) but this will work okay. One thing to mention is, for me at least, very hard to put the Visor back on the belt clip when wearing a jacket though. You really have to be looking right at it to line up the hole, as it is a small target. This may improve with practice and when at work with no jacket or in the summer, no problem.

The Velcro used to keep the front cover down could be better. They really should have used a small snap connector on the bottom center to hold it. I shouldnt say it is horrible and I may get used to it, I just dont like the Velcro look when it is open and you have to line it up just right for a good seal. Velcro wears out and gets fuzz in it after awhile. It is nice not to have to play with the hard plastic cover though. A little more stiffness in the front is needed and I helped do that by adding a few business cards in the side pouch. Speaking of which there are two small areas that you can have cards on the front cover. One is a side pouch that totally covers up the cards and the other is a smaller one that the cards would stick out half way. It is nice though, since you put your cards in there for fast access and others cards you can store in the side pocket.

The clear plastic that covers the buttons is not that bad. It doesnt seem to interfere that much. The up button can be a little tricky at times though since your finger ends up pressing on the leather strip right above it, more often than not. This is only a minor annoyance. The plastic doesnt get in the way as much as I thought it would.

The main problem is, for me, syncing while in the cradle is still a problem. I have used the sticker they give you and still have to play with by moving it around, pushing it in etcto get it to sync. I think this will fix itself the more I do it. I hope so anyway. If this doesnt get better then it may drive me crazy <grin>
I guess being able to sync while in the case is worth any small problems.

Overall I would rate it a strong 8 out of 10.

Question

Babylon5, what's your impression of the Slipper with Springboards? Do you feel that most of the Springboards you've seen will go in the Visor with the Slipper on? What about a bulky Springboard like the Innogear MiniJam?

I ordered on Jan 31 and am still waiting (5 weeks). Is this pretty typical? Is it worth the wait?

Well since the front cover is basically a flap, I think it has "SOME" room to worth with. Anything that adds a little height may work depending on the module. Anything that adds width, I don't think it will work in this case. Maybe just a little width would. I know that isn't a straight answer but it would really depend on the module itself. I would actually have to have a module to tell. I can tell you that from looking at the pictures on the URL you mentioned, the MiniJam would NOT fit in it. That just sticks out way too much width wise

The springboard would have to add minimal size to work with this case.

I hope this helps.
