Red face

I turned on my Visor Deluxe last night and tapped on the Datebook Icon, but instead of going to regular screen a blank screen popped up with one line at the top saying "Reading DB.." and the after another second or so, the screen blanked and now the Visor doesn't do a thing. Resetting hard or soft does nothing, trying to hotsynch, putting the backup module in. All does nothing - just dead as a doornail. Anyone have this happen or would like to hazard a guess as to what happened? (I even replaced the batteries - still nothing)

Thanks,
Mark

If you're sure that your replacement batteries were good, then it sounds like problem getting power from the batteries to the electronics.

If you are brave enough to open your Visor, check and see if there are any loose connections. If there are none, sounds like you'll need to get a replacement.

Good luck!

Besides making sure the new batteries are good, and in correctly ... When doing a Hard-Reset, make sure you hold the power button continuously until the Palm Logo screen appears, it is easy to let go too soon. But I assuming you are not even seeing the Logo. Other than that, try taking the batteries out, and leaving them out for at least ten minutes (over night if you want to be really sure). If no of these work, it is time to call Handspring for a replacement.

Visor Dead - thoughts?

Well Handspring sent me a note to do 5 hard resets without the batteries in the device. Then they said I should see the Palm Logo and when I did to put in new batteries. Well I did that, but no logo. However, I then inserted the batteries and up popped a message - erase all data? (click up button) or don't erase all date? (click any other button). So I clicked a different button and then the Palm Logo appeared and the visor went back to working, alas with all my info lost anyway. Fortunately I have backup module which i backed up before I went on recent 2 week vacation. Unfortunately didn't back up during vacation and lost my journal notes, etc. That will teach me.
