-- Vaja Case (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=11473)

Posted by DirkJonas on 02-03-2001 06:11 PM:

We have just received 3 Vaja's (2 for VDX/1 for IIIc) from Argentina - one with clip, one without - both in black alligator calf (IIIc is brown with magnetic closure)
First of all we have been quite impressed about the quality, the engraved graffiti , the craftsmanship etc.
After two days of using the flip cover I moved the VDX into the Handspring case; the Vaja is now waiting in my desk's drawer (for better times).
The case doesn't fit very well - about two milimeters or more of my screen (upper edge)is covered by the Vaja; additonally this creates an unpleasant shadow on the screen which makes the pop-up menu in the right corner totally invisible - not a real desaster but ugly.
Furthermore the plastic cover above the app. buttons feels like a "corpse-bag" (sorry for my bad eng. - I am german)everytime I push them.
The magnetic closure of the IIIc's case is bull**** - it doesn't keep closed.

Is the general enthusiasm about the Vaja cases because it's the case with the least mistakes ? Is there any flip case which is perfect ?

Thank's for comments in advance with greetings from bielefeld/germany

Dirk Jonas

I've heard the Vaja cases need to broken in. If that wouldn't help I'd send it back.

The problem with sending them back is, as somebody posted yesterday, the UPS cost alone is $40. I suppose that reason alone is the best reason for going with DirectCase... at least it won't cost you a ton to send it back (and you save $17 shipping initially)

Now if they would only get some cases in! I've been waiting two weeks for my Prism case (E&B) from Directcase.

I purchased a Black Cowhide/Ostrich Vaja Snap closure case with clip for my Prism and am extraordinarily impressed with the quality. I owned an E&B Slipper Visor for my Delux and enjoyed it as well, but got rather used to the plastic covering the app buttons, however the velcro remained annoying. I looked at the E&B for the Prism but was unimpressed with the following: Lack of plastic covering the app buttons, looks and no hole for the LED.

The Vaja doesn't allow for cradle hot syncs due to the shape of the cradle and the Prism itself, but the Prism slides easily in and out of the case. I wasn't too excited about the snap closure at first, but have learned to love. I feel my Prism is more secure with the case closed.

My only complaint about the Vaja is the clip. The bottom edge of the clip is a 90 degree angle without a second lip like the clip for the E&B. This allows the clip to work its way up you belt eventually falling. This happend to me twice while exiting my car. I then switched to the E&B clip (which fits the Vaja stud perfectly)for use with my Vaja case.

I'm currently looking for a nice leather belt case for my Prism. I have actually ordered an E&B Slipper Prism from directcase, but it seems that nobody has these. I've been on backorder for weeks now (and I'm not thrilled ;-)

It is interesting that you got so used to the plastic covering over the buttons that you see it as a positive feature. I've never used a case with the plastic covering the buttons, and had always presumed that it would be a negative. Perhaps I should reconsider the Vaja... only problem is the $17 shipping and the fact that $40 return shipping means you're stuck with it, regardless.

I take it that with the snap case you must remove the Prism to use it with the Stowaway? It seems like the snap would get in the way of the keyboard connector, so this probably wouldn't work.

Are there any other good leather belt clip cases around? I had a Rhodiana for my VDX, and it was great until it broke and sent my visor crashing to the pavement.

Waiting for a case...

Wink Vaja

Actually, when the Vaja is open it uncovers an opening that exposes the contacts. My prism works perfectly with the Stowaway Keyboard while still in my Vaja case.

I'm still waiting for the E&B slipper. I really don't like the HS case that came with the prism, but I'm too cheap to pay full price for the Vaja, with shipping of $14, without any chance of being able to send it back if it doesn't work out.

If the E&B is nice, then I'll probably keep it. However, if I'm not satisfied I'll likely order a Vaja Prism from directcase.com or handago.

Overall, though, I'm pretty frustrated at not being able to find a leather belt clip case...

The Vaja cases are available from directcase.com. Free shipping in the US. I got mine 2 working days after I ordered it. They even sent me a couple of free belt clips after I had a problem with my original one.

Vaja for Prism from directcase?

They keep telling me that they don't have the Prism Vaja cases... and it isn't listed on their website. Or are you talking about the regular Vaja for Visor Deluxe?

Brian

I had some problems with my Vaja Prism case - really nice, but the fit was a little off. When I complained, they told me they were going to send me a new one, and that I should return the old one to Directcase. The new one hasn't come yet.

On the whole, I've been pretty happy with my customer service experience.
