-- Fatal error each time backup module removed (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=5210)
I get the following every time the backup module is removed: Fatal error:
DataMgr.C,Line:2431,Null DBref
which necessitates a soft reset every time. Anyone know why? Makes no difference whether the device is on or off. No problems occur when I insert the backup module.
Jon
Do you have any hacks active? I have similar problems with uptime hack and DSHack. If I remove a springboard when the device is off it resets. I would try disabling any hacks that you might have as well as any apps that do hack-like things (e.g. Wordcomplete or Launch'Em 'alway use as default launcher'). If this fixes the problem then try actuvating the hacks one at a time to identify the problem. Also, it might be a combination of hacks that is the problem as opposed to a single hack.

The problem hack is SwitchHack. Thanks, Joel. There is no problem with this hack and my 8 MB springboard, however. I received version 1.1 in the mail yesterday, 5 1/2 weeks after ordering.
I thought SwitchHack was up to 1.6.2.
What if you first press your home silkscreen button, and then remove the Backup Module? Does that help?

Try PhlegmHack. It's like switchhack, but free. A new, bug update was just released.

Tried it yesterday. I like it better than SwitchHack, but it also causes the exact same fatal error, probably because it uses the same code. But it's more useful to me. I just switch it off before removing the module.
I noticed a bug with SwitchHack and the 8Meg Flash memory springboard.
Drawing a line from the silkscreen app button to the graffiti area works as usual.
But while drawing a line from the menu silkscreen to the app silkscreen will pop up the list of recent apps, tapping on one does nothing.
I do have most of my apps in the flash memory springboard, that might be confusing SwitchHack.
