-- Customer Service Call Results (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=293)
After hearing that there would not be a confirmation email (Thanks VisorCentral!) I called the support center to attempt to verify that my request for change in shipping address was processed (I was told I was going to get a confirm email, which is why I decided to follow up).
First, the wait was long, about 7 minutes, but not unreasonable considering the volume they must be processing in light of the recent email announcement (Im so glad they were at least honest and forthcoming about the lack of email notification for early phone orders).
I happily discovered once I had a CSR that they could pull my order up effortlessly, verify that they HAD indeed updated the shipping address as per my request, and even went ahead and changed which credit card I wanted to use. I was then asked if I wanted to change the color (I ordered a Deluxe) and what was my preferred shipping method.
As for shipping, I was told at the very latest, the first few days in November but the initial shipment is still scheduled to head out the door before the end of the month.
Overall, very helpful and very satisfying. It seems that a lot of the initial growing pains have worked themselves out, and I simply cant wait
Ok, I feel better. I finally had to break down and call a CSR. This is the first time I've called since I placed my first order. I started the call @ 12:38 CST and finally got an answer at 1:25 (did I mention how much I hate muzak?). The young lady that answered was great. She had my information in less than 3 minutes and everything was correct. She even let me remove the serial cradle I orderd (now using Win2K), and said shipping starts next week. I'll be watching the credit card balance all week. I guess I should have called earlier, and I wouldn't be worried about anything at all.

Well, I just called customer service. I was on the phone about 20 minutes. Not bad considering.
I placed my order on 9/30. The CSR found my order quickly and I was able to change the shipping to express and add on a 5 pack of stylus. She also confirmed that I would receive my order 4-6 weeks from 9/30.
But its a really good thing I did call. When she verified my credit card number there was a mistake
. If I hadn't called I may have never received my Visor. But I corrected the credit card number and now all is good.
For those who will ask, I'm pretty sure the credit card number was my mistake. That last digit is an 8, but the hologram makes it look like a 3. That's what the mistake was and I make it all the time when placing orders over the phone.
Maybe I should request and easier to read credit card number from my credit card company?

I too, decided to call since there would be no email confirmation. Called today, they had the order for a VD made on 9/24 AND surprisingly along with it, a serial cradle which I added on 10/01. CSR stated that they would begin shipping at the end of october and I should receive my order 1 or 2 weeks into November.
While November really ISN'T what I want to hear, at this point, I'm thankful that they had the order at all.
I called to confirm and change my order today and (after about 30 minutes on hold) was told that neither the CSR (named Muhammed) nor his supervisor could check the status of online orders.
He said the online store will be back up next week and that the only way for those of us who managed to order online to change our order (how's that for sucky grammar?) would be to do it via the web site.
D'oh. None too pleased. I'll be psyched if the site goes back up next week, but until then, I'm in total limbo. Arg.

I also ordered in the last week of September and was told middle of November. It ticks me off b/c the company line for weeks was "shipping in October", "No, there is no backlog" etc and now they will only get _DAY 1_ orders out in the first shipment.
I also wouldn't put much stock in the promises that the store will be up "in the next x days". I called last Friday and was told it would be up before Wednesday past. (I wanted to add a belt clip to my order. CSRs can't do it while the site is down.)
I called to make sure everything was ok and a nice lady told me "Could you hold for 5 minutes, it's going to take that long to try to find it" and after a few she retrieved my name, address, phone # etc, so it was in the system somewhere (I put in an order on sept 14).
I added the 5 pack of stylus pens to the order, which she seemed to have nothing against.. And she told me "Yours was sent to the shipping warehouse and will go out on October 31" which other people have been saying.
Why they don't just ship 'em if they got 'em I don't know, but at least there's been something somewhat consistent. And being that I ordered my machine on the first day, it's nice to know that I was in some kind of system.
I had to call too. I spoke with a very nice young woman who confirmed all my info. She also said the first orders were being shipped today, for what it's worth. Because I ordered later (but over the phone, thank god), I was told to expect my lovely little package in two or three weeks.
One thing to keep in mind: smart companies under-promise and over-provide. "We'll tell 'em 4-6 but deliver in just a couple." This MAY be what's going on. At least I can hope.
Elmorg..... I thought the same thing.. at least that I have done and would
do !
Sometimes, I'm really amused by what I read here. Other times, Im just plain stupified.
Handspring said that they would start shipping mid/late October. Mentally, I took it to mean that those who placed their orders first would have their orders filled and shipped first. As one of the people who ordered on the very first day, I expect my Visor to be among the first shipped.
What totally boggles my mind is that people are complaining that they placed orders in late September or early October, a few weeks after the initial announcement, and expect to have their orders shipped along with the first folks who ordered... These are pre-orders, not bulk general availability. If they had enough to fufill bulk availability, they'd probably be on store shelves.
