.# shortcuts
While lurking http://discussion.visorcentral.com/...;threadid=20790
I came across the .7 shortcut. I tried a .6 shortcut on my VDX and got "1/25/00, 1:35pm" a .7 came up w/ "[Inverting Baclight]" and toggles between that and "[Normal Backlight]".
What's up w/ this and what are the rest? My backlight toggle appears to have no effect on the backlight. WTFO?
See this link for info on the dot shortcuts.
I don't have a Visor anymore but I think I remember that the .8 shortcut doesn't work on Visors. But there are several hacks that provide this functionality. One is greenlight hack.

Sorry. Duh, I broke the cardinal rule of posting before searching. I'm now finding out all I never really needed to know about the . shortcuts.

Little caveat
After dorking around with the
. shortcuts I found that when I did the
.5 I had erased my user name and user ID. Doh! The reference sheet says that "records will be duplicated unless you first perform a hard reset." Well, having entered a handful of appointments and some PocketQuicken data, a hard reset before syncing wasn't really an option. What I did was to delete my user information on my Mac before doing the sync. That way, the desktop though I was a new user and it saved everything again. Took a while to sync but that was much better than losing every thing I did that day!
