After over 6 months of using my VDX today the address and phone buttons stopped working. I checked to make sure they were correctly assigned in Preferences and I did several soft and finally a hard reset without success. I am assuming this is a phsical damage not software. What do I do now?

Only one thing left. Call Handspring Tech support. They will have you try what you already have, and maybe a few other things. Since your device is only 6 months old, it is still under warrantee and thus they will replace it.
