keyboard/batteries for classes
Ok, I know there's several posters here who use a visor and a keyboard to take notes in school. As a law student, I'm thinking of doing this, but I'm concerned about batteries making it through 4 to 5 hours of class a day, plus any other use during the day.
Any thoughts or opinions?
No Problem
I take my visor deluxe to conferences where I use it to take notes during the daily sessions using Wordsmith and the Stowaway Keyboard. I will normally use a pair of batteries in 3-4 days of sessions (60 minutes of lecture and q&a - like a class). I have the visor set to turn off at 2 minutes and it rarely does.
I use the free tool, Runtime, to track my battery usage and it shows I've used the batteries upto 14.5 hours (of actual usage).
I always carry an extra pair of batteries with me and check the battery usage each morning and occasionally during lunch so that if I need to change them I can without having to do so during a session.
Hope this helps.
as the saying goes YMMV (your mileage may vary)
OC'd Prism w/ Stowaway Keyboard
I use an overclocked Prism with a Targus Stowaway keyboard in college. I find the keyboard doesnot make a significant drain on the batteries. But for those times when I am pushing my luck with the power...I UNDERCLOCK the Prism and type happily away. I barely notice a performance difference typing OC'd, and typing UC'd. For stretching battery life...underclocking is one of the best.

I use Quickword/VDX/Stowaway and I don't notice any difference in battery drain with the keyboard or without, even during a marathon typing session. As far as batteries go, I have the NiMHs from FullCharge, and I plug it in most nights anyway, so I never really get below 90%.
