Prism? or Treo?

Well, given that my VDx has probably had one too many hard knocks, I think it's time I bought a new one.

So, I can either search for a Prism at reduced prices (OfficeMax was sold out of their $199 sale...the other deals are typically pegged between $225 and $275) or I can get a Treo.

Here's some of the different issues:
- despite my best intentions, I haven't gotten any springboard modules, and probably won't... lack of Springboard is not an issue.

- I do have the Stowaway...but the review here said the Treo is compatible with the Stowaway

- The size factor of the Treo is nice, but certainly not a significant factor...I'd definitely NOT buy the Treo if I can't run my apps on it. (see below)

My Biggest issue is software apps. Reading through the Handspring site, it seems like the built-in apps are specific to the Treo. Would I be able to replace the shipped app with say, DateBk4?

I use lots of different types of software...most of which is probably not keyboard optimized. Are there incompatibilities or other issues with 3rd party apps on the Treo? (e.g., QuickOffice, StarPilot, Xtime, BrainForest, Abroad, TravelTracker, Workouts, etc.)

TIA

Ed

Treo vs. Prism

Sad to say but if you don't have any springboard modules or a keyboard, and you crave 16 MB of memory, you may have to buy a Treo.

Prism has been discontinued, but you'll be able to pick one up for as little as $150.00. (Compusa keeps putting refurbs online for 149.99 no exchange) but it has the springboard slot, which is nice if you have a digital camera that doesn't use the postage stamp memory chips!

The Treo has *no* expansion capability besides adding the memory chips, so IMHO it is a much more limited PDA than my heavier Prism.

Cheers!
