Question

What are the best batteries to use for the VDX? Those Energizers do not seem to last. Are there any good rechargeables?

I have great luck with RayOVac NiMH batteries in my VDX. They last way longer than the Maha ones I got from Thomas Destributing here.

YMMV

Lightbulb the truth on batteries

just stick with cheap batteries.....the extended life you get from a more expensive battery does not offset the cost....for example a 4 pack of the new generation duracell or energizer's might cost you 5 bucks and a pair will last you maybe 5 weeks....however you could pay 2-3 bucks for a four pack of cheap generic batteries and a pair will last maybe 4 weeks....do you really want to pay twice as much for something that might give you 1 extra week of use???? it just doesn't add up.....the technology on alkaline batteries is pretty much tapped out....it's pretty tough to make them any more efficient than they already are. these new batteries are for the most part, a marketing ploy. oh, i'm sorry, i just realized you were asking about rechargeables......well here's my two cents on alkalines anyway ;-)

Thumbs up go with NiMH

Buy 4 NiMH AAA batteries and a charger. Just swap them any time your batteries are getting low. Never worry about batteries again.

PDAENVY:

can you tell us your stats from using the MAHA and Rayovac NiMH batteries? runtime, time between battery changes, etc...

I too have a pair of MAHA's and i was fooled into believing they last as long as, if not more than, regular alkalines. All that 'advertising' on thomas distributing sure worked on me!

I'm getting perhaps just under 10 hours of runtime where as i'd get around 20 with duracell ultra's. I mainly use avantgo, games, etc.. My VDX is actually more of a recreational device than an organizer.
